What flyline are you using?

Ok, we've recently talked fly reels, rods, and waders. I know Bob Knight uses Cortland but what fly line are you using? I have used SA, Cortland, Orvis, and Royal Wulff. I have heard good things about Airflow but have never cast one. Rio and Teeny seem to specialized for my taste. I am looking to put a floating line on a new 5 wt a friend is building for me.

SA Ultra 3 WF-5F tan, great line, shoots well floats awesome.

I switched from SA Ultra 3 to the Wulff Triangle Taper on my Thomas & Thomas Horizon 8-1/2 ft 5-wt this past year (yep, that's a TT on my T&T ). The difference was like night and day - outstanding performance. Highly recommend the Triangle Taper for any Washington waters. The 2001 version of the Triangle Tapers revised the nomenclature regarding weights - I'm using last years 5/6 whereas this years version of that same line is simply listed as 5wt.

I've always been quite satisfied with the peach-colored 444 Cortland. They are affordable, hold up well to all kinds of abuse and cast as well as any other line I've tried (and that's a few).

I have used just about all of them and for the most part there isn't a lot of difference just for the thrift of it try out one of the discount brands I see Olympic around for $10 to $15 at discount stores ie Swains. I have several in DT and WF they are fine and probably made by Cortland or SA so in this case you might just get what you pay for at a cheaper cost.
Always struck me as odd that people would bust there ass to save a couple of bucks on rods and then fork over top dollar for a fly line that is no better than one that cost 75% less.

Line is the key to fly fishing. I've heard so many times not to skimp on one's fly line. I agree with that. But what's skimping? I continue to use the Cortland 444 peach floater and SA's Supreme. They've been around over 30 years and perform as well as any of the more expensive varieties presently marketed.

Native Son's correct. Cortland and SA are the only manufacturers of fly lines in the U.S. The cheap lines really aren't that bad. They're usually made by Cortland and are of the 333 quality.
