Toyota 20ft deep at Line Decker - 02/04/01 01:41 AM

Heres some detial,

Some guy tried to back his trailor to the left of the lower launch at Line Decker. If you are familiar with that spot you would know that the bogie directly drops off into a 20plus ft hole in that spot. He went down with the truck and was under for about 45 seconds then poped up like a dink float. His truck is at he botom as we speek.

Think Ill check and see if the Headlights are still on when I go home from work.

I hear that getting into your fishing is what it is all about but that is pushing it.

I hate that when it happens! Glad to hear the guy is OK, although he'll probably have to go into the fisherman's ID protection program, have his name changed, move to a new location, maybe have surgery, change his style of fishing, or face being reminded of this for life. A few years back a guy backed his van and trailer into the Chehalis river at the Monte lauch. Haven't heard about him since. Talk about a bad gear day on the river! Guess I won't be so upset when I loose a favorite plug on a rootwad--it's all relative. Let's all keep safety in mind or risk having to change to flippin' an pichin' to ol mr. bucket mouth.

Old timer "Sttutering Bill" ( as in Doty's Rock at Pillar Point) once upon a time got his car stuck in the sand at Freshwater Bay after they got it mobile again he drove up to Lake Mills and launched it again to rinse the salt off. He reasoned that he'd been doing it for years with his outboards why not his car.
Hanging around boat ramps is great entertaiment done my share of provideing laughter and watched a lot of humor too. Not that I would have found anything humorous at the scene of the near disaster on the Bogey but now that its history we must put a humorus spinn on it to keep our heads up. All in good fun glad no one was hurt and I hope you had insurance.

Back in the early to 90's while chinook fishing in Elliot Bay,I seen a guy trying to hook up his boat to his trailer and his truck(pretty new too) rolled into the Bay; some fellow with a big truck help pull the truck and his boat out.Can you immagine a truck full of saltwater;poor guy.

I can't say too much as I had an e-brake pop off a truck one time whil parked at the top of the ramp and down she went (I've got some video of the retrieval I should put up one day ... pretty funny) ... but I know a little about the situation and let's just say the Sol Duc Gods taketh away from from those who don't give back
