Taking the wife fishing

Taking the wife fishing - 04/03/01 09:37 AM

Have one of those rare chances to take her salomn fishing. Would like to keep it simple, so I was wondering if trolling warts of kwikfish around in the mouth of the Kalama would be a good idea. I would like her to catch her first salomn but don't want us to be getting in the way of other people that may be using other methods. Not looking for any secret tips or any thing, just want to know if my idea seems reasebable. Thanks

That's a great idea. You will get more fishing in if she catches something. She might get hooked on fishing. Try rainbow spinners also. There are supposed to be alot of fish in the river, but don't wait too long if the season gets cut short. wink

BW the kalama area is fishing well right now. Launch at port of kalama and go straight across the river. 20 to 30 feet of water seems to be the ticket anchor up on the out going and fish kwick fish. Have been doing well there. Good luck.

Right on BW! Must be wife weekend as I am doing the same. I will pull plugs and she gets into casting too. She has mastered the spinning reel next is the bait caster. With all the backlashes I put my Dad through, my time was coming. Good Fishing!! laugh

Ttry trolling Herring or anchoring and hanging sardine wrap Kwikfish out the back of the boat at Cathlamet around Puget Island. The fishing has been pretty good the last couple of days. Note: troll slow.... The slower, the better. Good Luck!
