You might want to check the board at www.ifish.net It's Oregon based, and has alot of good info on the Tillamook fishery. smile

The Tillamook chinook run timing is later than most other systems. They usually start up thru T-Bay in early Sept., but not in great numbers yet. There have been reports of catching only a few throughout the bay recently. These are mostly the earlier running Trask R. fish. The ocean T-Bay "bubble fishery" just outside the jetties is the best place now, with a proper boat and weather. The Wilson R. run is a little later. ... Just north of the T area is the Nehalem Bay and River, which gets an earlier run than T-Bay. Same with the Nestucca Bay and River south of the T area. Both those systems have had decent numbers of fish for awhile, but no great bites. All these systems are made up of smaller coastal drainages, unlike larger inland rivers and Oly Pen rivers. Thus they are more dependant on rain fronts to get fish in, moving, and biting. And the drought continues here so the fishing is sub-par as of yet. However, the forecast is for more normal rainfall this season. Soon I hope!!!

eek Edit: I just got reports that today was a break out day with lots of chinook caught all thru T-Bay from the jaws up to the upper bay.

Try the South Fork Nehalem (mainstem). There is a great section at the top of tidewater called Roy creek. Fish from the bank on the road side of the river, with bobber & bait, on the incomming tide. Ask for directions at any takle shop from Garabaldi to Wheeler. Good luck.
