Best fall chinook trip?

Best fall chinook trip? - 09/28/01 01:07 PM

Neither my boys or myself have ever caught a fall chinook salmon and would like to take 4 days or so this fall to fish for them. We are thinking about trying the Wilson River in Mid-October. Good idea? Particularly interested in back-trolling or bobber fishing out of the drift boat. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ahead of time, happy angling.

If you hit the wilson or trask after some rain in mid october you should be all right.
I would shoot for the 18th thru the 21st personally.Good luck,

These are two of the best rivers around for Fall Chinook, but plan on having lots of company(75+ boats from Mills bridge down). I would consider hiring a guide since the competition is unreal. Gary Hilton is one of the best on the River. If he can't find them, nobody can. He usually works out of The Guide Shop located at Mills Bridge on the Wilson. Good luck!
