Wildlife Pictures you've taken on fishing/hunting trips - 11/13/01 07:41 AM

In Bob's 6 pic contest in the panarama thread he mentioned his tough one to identify was catching trout on a hunting trip. It gave me the idea to have a thread of wildlife pics you've taken while out on your fishing or hunting trips.

I've cut down the sizes of these so it won't slow the download as much, and won't kick in the scroll feature. So some of the animals are small in the pics.

This is the same N. Rockies grizzly bear from the other thread. He stood to look over the small ridge before crossing it in my direction.

Then I scrambled back into my car as he came right by me.

I got 2 pics of sow black bears with cubs. The first one is on the road up to Mt. Edith Cavell near Jasper Alberta ...

...and this was on the AK Hwy (west Cassiar Hwy section) before they scrambled into the woods

Then on one of my days off from fishing the Kenai I flew north across Cook Inlet - above Chikmik Is. in this pic - to go see the rarest of Alaskan wildlife!

I will put it the next post below, so as not to overload any one post.

Before the rarest AK wildlife pic, I have some wild hoofed animals.

This was a semi-tame elk herd in Yellowstone, so it was too easy to get

Then some moose.
This big bull with June velvet antlers was just off the remote Cassiar Hwy in northern B.C.

This cow moose occassionally galloped right thru our tent camp on the banks of the Kenai R. AK

Here's one taking a swim across the Kenai

And the rarest of AK wildlife? A family of people living in the bush near Lake Clark on the north side of Cook Inlet. I helped pilot Will Satahite load and unload supplies for the family for the free flight see. We flew low altitude over a river delta and up a wide canyon over there, and scared two huge brown bears away from a salmon creek into the woods and then flew right over a big bull moose that didn't even flinch. Great scenery, and more thrilling than a day on the Kenai.

If you haven't done so yet, answer that "call of the north". Book a trip with Bob for trophy Kings.

Okay here's a few I found while looking for some pic for some new rack cards I made up today:

How 'bout a herd of cows blocking our way into our favorite hole:

Okay, more along the lines of wildlife, how 'bout a bear swimming for chums near Hyder, AK

or a coyote keeping a close eye on our activities on the Kasilof:

One of my favorite all-time eagle pictures ... I like to call it Guardian of the Clambeds:

Or how 'bout 'pet' sheep onb the AlCan in the springtime:

Since RT had moose swimming across the river, I'll one up him wink ... here's three:

I've got more if you want! wink

Ya I'd like more Bob. I love outdoor pics!!! If you had a couple of these pics in your guessing contest, I would guess the bear swimming was in the south tributary creek of the Salmon R., up out of the far side of town. Did you go into the semi-famous Hyder tavern and swig the nasty stuff? eek

I'd guess the Al-Can Hwy ram pic was in Kluane National Park, Yukon? We've stopped there and glassed more mountain sheep than anywhere along the road. A good ways up the Hwy from there we use the campground along the huge Kluane Lake, with brown bear tracks often right thru it. Didn't get to see any there though, but some up the Cassiar Mts. BC and up in AK.

Any good wild animal pics hunters? We like 'em.
