Hi Scott,

I have been using Fibre-glo for 5 or so years. It works great it seems to have the same characteristics as ultragreen. Not one complaints about it at all. 25# for the flatfish and kwikies and 12# for the smaller plugs works for me!

Hope the boat is running well!

I use it as well, and like it a lot. I use 10lb for steelhead, and 15 lb for fall salmon. I used to use 20lb for salmon, but couldn't break it off when I snagged up. 15 lb is fine for all but the biggest kings. Note: I don't fish Tillamook anymore, I'd go heavier there.

For steelhead, I tie about 12-15 ft of ultragreen on as a leader, so that the fish can't see the bright stuff. I use this length so that when the fish is close to the net, the knot is on the spool so that it won't be suddenly stressed if the fish makes a run close to the boat.

I really like how much easier it is to see where my plugs are with this stuff.

I've tried the Maxima, Berkley, Ande, and Izor colored lines and like the Maxima the best. It has good abrasion resistance, it doesn't stretch as much as the Berkley or the Ande, it isn't brittle like the Izor, and the pink seems to be the easiest to see under most conditions.

Hope this helps

I just got a free spool from a fishing club and I like the way it cast. I am using it with UG leader.

I used it for a while on plug rods (#15) and loved it. I did run about 4' of leader above the plug though. Lately I've been using Sufix Superior (yellow) and like it just as well, at a fraction of the price.

according to some underwater color research that I ran across....
Pink is one of the first colors to be filtered out by water (at about 2 feet)..
so the-o-reticaaaaly, the fish wouldn't see the line as being pink, if they were... yadda yadda yadda..

Didn't Frank Amato wright a book about this??? " What fish see"

I think Mepps is using this info in the design of their "SeeBest" lures...

Sniggler,

If that were really true about the color pink, why is it arguably the most effective color (corky, jig, yarn, plug etc...) for catching steelhead?

Has anyone tried this line on a spinning reel?

4salt....

I think I miss-typed.. or ommited something.. or mebbe it was the beer talking....

I don't think it totally dissapears for the fish.. it just doesn't look "pink"...
