Curt's question about his Shimano Drag reminded me of a question I've had. I have a Shimano Stradic 2000 spinning reel and in the booklet that came with it, Shimano recommends a yearly professional servicing. Is this really necessary? What is done? How many people actually have there reels professionally serviced each year? Can I do the same thing myself? I should add that that the reel has performed flawlessly for 2 and 1/2 years with just occasional oil/grease to the gears, handle and shaft. Appreciate any feedback>
