In my opinion there isn't a really good tackle shop in Olympia. I mostly shop at Sunbirds in Chehalis. It's just off of I-5. Or if you get down to Longview check out Bob's Sporting Goods. They're liable to have what you need and give better customer service. Up north there's Sportco in Fife, again, just off I-5. Don't get me wrong, I love Olympia but I got tired of not finding what I want at the meager offerings here and don't even try any more. I hope that this helps.

I grew up in Olympia, and I still work there btu tha last time there was a decent tackle shop here was when Yard Birds was still open. Remeber that? You would go in and talk with Rocky, check the bucket for wire coded fish heads, get some gear and some popcorn, and leave. (Edit: Rocky now works at Home Depot in the electrical dept and still loves to talk about fishing.)

I usually hit a combination of Boater's World, Fred Meyer, K-mart, Big 5 (overpriced), and sometimes Tumwater sports. But when I just have to have something, I go to Sportco.

A few other shops in the area are Verle's in Shelton. Good selection of gear. Sunbirds is also a good option as well and they are between Centralia and Chehalis.

Philpac33 –

All Marine (10300 Martin Way E, 360-923-9535) is a good supplier of bass equipment. Tom’s Outboard (221 East Bay Dr. NE, 360-754-3882) has a great price on corkies and some good equipment. Otherwise, I drive to either WalMart in Shelton or Chehalis (depending on where I’m fishing that day), or GI Joes in Puyallup. Pickin’s are slim here in the state capitol…

I've had this same problem here in Oly. I want to stock up on gear before the weekend so I run around town on my lunch break and find nothing. I get off work and head toward Sportco but I hit traffic at the dome and never make it in time. SUCKS!!! Sounds like an opportunity for an entrepreneur here in Oly wink
