Columbia River Fish Counts

Columbia River Fish Counts - 03/05/02 07:24 PM

Okay, awhile back I posted about one of the sites being up and running. Well, they posted counts up to the 19th of February and then quit. That site hasn't been updated since. I have tried the other two sites I know of but they are totally inactive. These are the sites I used with hardly any problems last year:

http://www.nwd-wc.usace.army.mil/ftppub/cafe/r091.txt

http://www.fpc.org/CurrentDaily/7day-ytd_adults.htm

http://www.cbr.washington.edu./dart/adult_rpt.html

This year none are working yet but the bottom one which hasn't been updated since February 19th like I said.

I guess I'm just anxious to see the up to-date-counts over Bonneville even if they aren't that much. Does anybody know of any other links where I can find current counts? Thanks. I think this may have something to do with the government shutting down some of their websites/pages because of somebody that cracked into their system awhile back or something. I don't know. confused Can anybody help me out though? Thanks.

Krome Brite,

I know the first web site you listed won't be up and running until the middle of this month. I to am getting anxious to et my boat out and try my new yamaha 4 stroke.

Lots of "government sites" were shut down immediately after the September 11 event. I will bet you money that is the reason why your sites were also shut down!

Krome Brite,
WDFW and ODFW won't do counts at the counting windows until March 15 usually. The counts you saw posted through Feb19 were from a crew sampling fish at the WA shore adult fish trap. Lower Granite and Little goose dam have been posting steelhead counts all winter(except when the ladders were down for maintenance) because NMFS wanted bull trout passage numbers on the Snake. I work on adult salmon/steelhead/lamprey studies throughout the Columbia basin, so I'd be happy to answer any other questions I can.

As I recall they started posting fish counts last year at about the same time; i.e., on March 15.

Ah yes, it's all coming back to me now. March 15, that's when they started posting last year. Thanks for the heads-up guys. And thanks for the info about the sample posting, nwsteel. Interesting. smile
