speaking of heat....

what type of weapon do you carry, and what made you pick that paticular model? also what type of holster setup do you prefer? im asking because im looking for a new pistol.

Your best bet is to go to a local gun shop that has gun rentals and fire a few different guns. Many people choose 9mm. If you want knock down power and concealed carry options, a compact .40 cal is a good bet. If concealed carry is not a concern, like you have a large body like mine, where you can hide any gun, a full size will give you more rounds. I have heard the ParaOrdiance (sp) 1445 and 1640 are good. The 1445 holds 14 rounds of .45cal, the 1640 holds 16 of .40cal. Although I heard of trigger problems on them, I could not confirm it. For simple operation and less hang ups, a revolver is the way to go. The .357 mag has more one shot stops than any other gun. It also has many size to choose from. Any thing from a two shot pocket pistol to a seven shot full size. Holsters are personal comfort. Inside the pants hide well, belly pouches kinda shout "gun", shoulder ones need a jacket. I carry a Rugar 9mm, 15 round clip, easy take down, cheap ammo, and low cost reliable gun. I have both belt and shoulder holsters. I carry others but that is old stand by.

I carry either my S&W Model 4506, or my Colt 1911 (both are .45). I'm a fairly big guy, so concealment isn't a problem. I like to use a shoulder holster for concealability reasons. I use Glazer Safety Slugs and hollow points. I chose the .45 because it's a tried and true round that has been around forever. Hey if it was good enough for our military for so many years, then it good enough for me.

Kimber stainless compact .45, Kramer leather but you would never know it.

I carry a Para-ordanance p-12 45, holds 12 rounds of 45 cal, hides well in a shoulder holster, it is a great gun.It is accurate and hasn't jammed on me ever. I like the 45 because it is a big fat hunk of flying lead and I want serious knock down power. If I ever need to use it, it will probably be on a cougar or bear and I don't think a 9 is up to the challenge. I would never use those safety slugs or any other bullet made to be used on humans because they won't penetrate enough on an animal.

Ruger Sp101, 357 cal.

H & K USP Compact in .40 S&W. Compact, light, indestructable, 11 different firing modes, more accurate than I am and I'm not bad. Speer gold dot 135 or 155 grain flying ashtrays.

Beretta mini-cougar in .45acp. compact,not so light, but very easy to shoot well with little recoil. It only holds 8+1,but thats what spare mags are for. Federal 165gr. hydra-shoks,or speer gold dot 185gr.+p

Ruger P97 .45 or a Taurus 85 .38. Usually in a belt holster with waist-high breathables, but sometimes in the pocket of neoprene chest waders. I carry the .38 the most because of its light weight. Both are relatively inexpensive yet reliable.

well thanx for your tips i looked in to all your pistols but decided to go with this one, it is from an order by the memphis police dept. that got cancelled.

For concealed carry I pack a KelTec P11 9mm, Corbon or Silvertips. Small can be concealed in the front pocket of your jeans. 11 rounds (double stack mag), acurate 7 to 15 yards, quick sight aquisition. Plenty of gun for 2 legged animals.

When I am hiking or scouting and think dangerous 4 legged animals may be about it is a custom cut down Remmington 870 19.5" barrel rifled bore, pistol grip, no plug slug - 00 buck - slug - 00 buck - slug - 00 buck this will make it a very bad day for anything on the receiving end.

I carry a Glock 26, 9mm. It is small, lightweight, and affordable (450.00-500.00). The target ammo is real cheap too.

I carry a Sig Pro 2340. It uses .40 or .357 rounds. Carry it in a Galco RG250 Horse hide holster.
I like Glocks also, light and easy to shoot.

One word, GLOCK.

Mines a Bersa (Argentinian I think) .380 with 8 little silvertips. Nice double action semi auto.Very concealable. Fits in my vest pocket.

I carry a Ruger P90 (.45 cal). For the price you cant beat it, $350-400. Loaded up with banned Black Talons, seven of 'em.
I figure if I can't take care of the problem after six shots I might as well reserve the last one for my self.

i somtimes carry my 454 Casull loaded with 360gr corbon Flat Point Penetrators, it`s kinda clumsy though, so most of the time i carry my .45 glock.

pheash origonally i was about pistols because i am buying one and was interested in what other people use as i didnt care for my previous pistols now im looking into holster systems

I carry a Taurus pt 92, it`s a copy of the Barreta, 92 and 99 models,
just as nice, only a lot less expensive.

SIG P239 in 40 or 9mm small and easy to hide with a sidekick clip on
