May 25th King opener

I noticed that the Washington coast is having a Chinook only season from May 25th to June 16th. It's in effect from Neah bay to Ilwaco. Is this something new or have they had this type of select season before? Just wondering if anyone has fished for Kings out there during this time frame before?

It is a new season. It is for hatchery kings only I beleive. They would be our springers that come into the Solduc and Hoh rivers. There usually isnt that many kings around until the later part of August-October off of LaPush. But I know I will be out there when they open it.
