Wierd Sturgeon Regs....

Can anyone even try to explain why the regs state that on may 5th and 6th, (a sunday and monday) and again on may 12th and 13th, (the next sunday and monday) sturgeon fishing is c & r only on the columbia? Why these dates...is there some secret sturgeon convention or something going on that i wasn't informed of? Just seems very weird...

may 1-july 24, open to fishing and retention, but closed on those 4 days, may 5th & 6th and 12th & 13th to c&r only...then c&r only from july 25- sept 30...then open to retention from oct 1- april 30th

The regs changed in February to C&R on Sundays and Mondays. Why? Same old story. Less fish, more fishermen.

Actually it isn't so bad, considering that the sturgeon population is dropping faster than ever, and they don't begin to reproduce until they are about 15 years old.

Hopefully I will be out there after them this Saturday! :p
