Flotilla 4.2 Is On

Okay I'm crazy to take this on considering the Cowlitz is not my river. Its on for June 15 and 16...two days. There will be two weigh ins at a soon to be determined time and place. Two fish categories...springers and summers and a combined weight class. As far as I am concerned the entire river is open and this is a bank and boat event. This should be the one and only great equalizer and decider of "Legend" status amongst all fishing methods and ethnic groups. Looking for help and advice from all. Where should the weighin party land base be is my first priority. So start forming your teams and post them here...plus any advice. My e-mail is gooose@tscnet.com. I have several volunteers too...FJ and Wiser...others to follow. Oh...I almost forgot...Smack talk if ya want....gooose is gonna win anyway .

I might be able to make it. Finally school will be out and I will be stress free. I would sure like to go. I won't talk smack about you catching fish because I believe you can but not bigger than me. I will keep you posted, I don't know what hours I will work this summer. Take care.....

This should be alot of fun. Not sure when my daughter's graduation is, but I am sure I will make it down. I will also volunteer to help any way I can.

My home water I will be there at least on the 15th with one open seat in the boat.

I would like to recommend camping/weigh in at either Blue Creek Ramp (Remember Animal House?) or the Barrier Dam Camp Ground (that would be more civilized).Or maybe here one day and there the next. I like anywhere I can camp for free! (We will be on Sand Island this weekend if the fish Gods allow)

We have been getting in some practice for this one recently so there is little doubt that we will be bonkin some fish. I doubt that any of those Oreo's will have the stuffing to make it to this one.

Fresh Draft Beer Sounds Good! You put your name on the ticket and I'll drink it! I usually bring plenty of cans and occasionaly a bottle of Jack or Jim. The fire only keeps you warm on the outside!

Perhaps we should work a bit of a Clean-Up into this Flotilla. Blue Creek gets pretty trashed. Perhaps the Hatchery would allow us to use there dumpsters. Anyone with any insight or contacts there?

Okay I've had a day to consider recent events on this board....I was very close to bailing on this Flotila....but now its a GO as there is a point to be proven here....its all about having some fun, catching some fish, and meeting some new people....and maybe finding a new fishen bud or two. Two day event starting Midnite on the 15th, area open is the entire Cowlitz, weighins will be at the Blue Creek launch parking lot and the Barrier Dan camp ground, I'm thinking 4:30pm for weighins, you may boat it or bank it, nite time globalling is allowed, how you catch your fish....well thats your own problem...but I would hope everyone would follow Washington fishing regulations. Do I care about the previous Flotilla smack...the Oreo/Wassie thing kinda sucks...nah as the gooose has nothing to prove ...just want a nice weekend fishen with my buds. Anyone want to help out...I've got lots of things that need volunteers. Got issues...leave them at home or go somewhere else. want to smack talk go ahead...I'm not interested until ya smack on gooose or friends. Crap I don't even know who I'm fishen with. So I'm open to any and all positive thoughts on how to make this the best Flotilla ever. Nuff said.

Oh almost forgot...GutZ I think a clean up is one h@ll of an idea...thanks for the suggestion.

We can't be in two places at the same time? Barrier Dam is 7 or 8 miles from Blue Creek. Blue Creek is a "freebie" and being the cheap/frugal B'terd I'am, I would rather spend the $ on sand shrimp.

We have been having good success our last few trips down the Mighty Cow. Backtrolling plugs with the favorite being #25 Pirate Hotshots.

Regarding CleanUp, does anyone know if we can use the dumpster at the hatchery? Is the transfer station at the top of the hill still open? Another option might be to haul the trash to Barrier Dam Camp Ground. Perhaps Friends of the Cowlitz will provide disposal. Just ramblin now ...

GutZ yep I normally can't be in two places at once . Sounds like its Blue Creek ramp for the weighins. As for the overnite accomodations...theres several in the vicinity. Also if you guys are down there on a regular basis it would be nice to find out where we can dispose of the stuff from the cleanup. I'm sure someones recycling bins will be overflowing with aluminum and glass by that sunday . Hmmm now I just need a set of accurate scales .

Centerpin the Ark is still under construction....changing the hull design to a cat with twin jet drives and about 12 rowing stations.

Okay there has been a change in rules .....No Weigh In! We are there for only one thing ...haven some fun as a group. We will cheer each persons or teams catch and require stories of the days events and misadventures. We will celebrate, meet friends and make new friends. I'm bringen about 12 dozen oysters..maybe more. We shall feast and drink. Need a couple of turkey cookers. I here tell that someone may bring a keg. The main event will be at the Blue Creek launch parking lot...bring body armor. Prize awards(?) ...I haven't asked anyone...if someone wants too we'll award by loudness of the cheers or boos.

Hey Gooose, if there's no weigh in, how are we going to get to the river? Right on for scratchin that part. No matter what rivers these flotillas occur on, likely over half the people won't know the river well; and that's a big factor for catching fish. So that's not really conducive for making them into competitions. More relaxed and fun without having to scramble and fish real hard too. If someone has an exceptional fishing day, people will learn of it. Cool.

As for having both oysters and a keg at an overnight flotilla, that's the best formula yet for having fun! Sign me up. I hope that doesn't bother the ladies that are coming. ...

EDIT: Ah, poor choice of words? Meant to say, I hope it doesn't bother ladies who are there. I'm sure it won't bother any guys who are coming. Hey 'Fly, remember the first ifish party? = btw, what's she up to these days? About 180 lbs? (jk)

Can someone 'splain boodawgin (sp? ) for those that haven't fished that way?

Also since there is no weighin....just arrive at the end of the day festivities as you can....should be someone still standing after midnite! BTW any of you camper types got one of those metal campfire on legs things?

I have an oven sized grill we use over fires. "Kill it and Grill it" It's always in the truck. Some of Grannies Tater Salad will surely make the trip.

Gutz, kill em and grill em...sounds like my good ole uncles from Indiana. They have a thing for cooking anything over an open *fire*.

I might be thinking that you could probably handle as many trips to the keg as they can!

This sounds like a lot of fun!!! I think I will see if rvrtramp is up to a run down the cow. A clean up will work also. I will be able to help get rid of the junk if we do not find a spot to get rid of it. I will bring food also if Gutz is bringing the grill. It will be good to meet everyone. Hope I can make it will try to keep the work thing out of the way.

Kid Cowlitz will be doing good from the bank if I HAVE TO, but remember the right knee is messed up and if I don't hobble, I'm on crutches.

Soooo, anybody might have an open seat, on preferrably a motorized boat, for both or one of those days? Can help with gas and conversation.

What do poeple think of displaying some kind of ribbon or small flag of something on our boats to identify us a "F 4.2" participants while on the river?

Escapee hopefully this one will be a "no one offended" event. At least thats what I'm working on...any suggestions are welcome towards this end. I'm thinking small American flags with a F4.2 banner below would be appropiate?

My thoughts exactly. I figure that it would be a right of passage for two young boys. See a few fish, throw some rocks in the river, and look at the wildlife. Papa bear and his two cubs.

Picked up 20 dozen oysters and about 50 pounds of steamer clams today....see ya all there friday bout 6 pm.

Everyone look for the RV with Old Glory flying...that'll be F4S ...the center of our Alamo. There is gonna be mass food provided by a number of people....looks like we will all be on a high protein diet ! Everyones contributions are welcome. We could use a couple of plywood/sawhorse serving tables.

I have got three out of your childhood stomping grounds,if there ever was a chance to chase memories it is right now.

As long as the one's bringing kids know that there'll be plenty of us who normally don't have to watch ourselves around children.

I'm just saying someone will be offended is all with all the spouses/other halves and kids running around. I just pray those people will accept my apologies afterwards.

As one of those aforementioned significant others, let me just offer these simple suggestions for behavior around other peoples children.
1. hands off, that means don't touch the little buggers.
2. don't offer them a little taste of your liquor. Some of them are just drunks waiting to happen and you don't want to be responsible for creating a monster, now do ya?
3. Don't throw them in the drink, no matter how irritating they are. Save some of the pleasure of parenting to the parents!
and last but not least, if they are really bothering you,come see me. I always have a spare pair of earplugs, after all, I'm married to the RiverRat!

Should be a good weekend to go fishing the cow. lots of fish to be caught if one knows how to go about it. Heard blue creek is producing some nice fish. Good luck and have fun this weekend. I have to work so won't be able to join in the festivities.

Well we are less than 24 hours from the Flotilla 4.2 aka MadCowTilla ! A lot of folks including myself will be arriving Friday. All bring any contributions you can for the festivities and the feasts!...and lets have a fun weekend!

I will be down there Sat. AM to fish for a little while. I will be going from the bank though. am just curious how many others will be banking it on this flotila? Also how is everyone supposed to know who is who? I might write on a bright piece of paper f4.2 and have my monicar at the bottom. I will check this later today at work to see if there is anything new.
