Wynoochee River?? - 06/16/02 07:47 PM

Hey-thinking about a trip down to the Wynoochee river this week. Don't have a clue about this river, but, i do a trip like this every summer where i like to get extremely skunked (well, i guess that happens each fishing trip that i go on anyways). Is there any summers in there in good numbers yet? How about the springers? Thanx guys for the help!

The Wynoochee River isn't open for salmon until the fall. You can find summers if you look hard enough. Depends on if you plan on banking or boating the river. During summerflows can be very shallow. Most DB's are pretty much useless during the summer. But if you're blessed with a cat like some of us smile you can navigate the river even on very low flows.

Haven't had a chance to fish it since it reopened, but have heard a few being caught in lower river.

I am going to fish it on Wednesday after work in my raft. I will give you a report.

The rain brought the CFS up to about 600, but the river is clear. Bring a small boat, not your jet, cause it is skinny water.

Floated it last night from white bridge to Wishkah. The river was low, but in good shape. Be prepared to drag bottom in a DB. Three suckers! No Steelhead. Nice evening drift, and the wife even helped me by shuttling my truck down to the pull-out.
