Good places in Snohomish County to fish? - 08/27/02 05:33 PM

I just got my license last friday and am wanting to do some fishing now with my new freedom as before no one would ever take me places that I wanted to fish.

I want to stay local so I know my way around and doesn't take too long to get there. I know of good places like Snohomish river, French Creek, Skykomish River, Stilly, etc. Could you share some other places like maybe some creeks that produce well.

I live between Everett and Snohomish if that helps any.

P.S. When do the Salmon come into the Snohomish? I would like to try my luck this year.

Won't help you now but when it get's water the Pilchuck River is under rated, and never crowded.

You already know a few good spots in the Snohomish, Sky, and Stilly. Learning to fish those three rivers should be enough to keep you busy for a couple of years. With those picks you should have something to fish for throughout the whole year. Steelhead in winter and summer (spring is questionable), cutthroat, humpies, silvers, and chums in the late summer to fall. Nobody's going to give away their favorite small creek on the internet. Just make sure you know the regulations for each time and place you fish.

Seein's how the Pilchuck is only open for steelhead, and for just 3 months a year, maybe it's not too crowded 'cause you's fishin' it at the wrong time? eek rolleyes

The Pilchuck is not my favorite but it is close to Bruiser. It does have trout as well as Winter Steelhead. I believe it is open from Dec-Feb. Rather peaceful being close-in.
I don't spend much time on it but January is when I'll give it a try when I don't want to go very far.Like I said it won't help now!

Scroll through the west side river regs and look at the names in there.....if it's got any special regs, it's got fish in it (or, rather, it's supposed to.) If it's in Snohomish county and you can figure out where it is, give it a whack.

I've never tried French Creek, but it looks NASTY right before they lift it into the Snohomish. How far up do you fish it? (nothing specific...don't wanna step on your zipper. wink )
