Well, thanks for volunteering me. I'll just have to make sure we keep that First Sergeant off of keg guard, he drinks it all!!
Well, now, that sounds like it might be kinda fun. Can you clue me in as to where Friends Landing is?

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/18/02 11:18 PM
SH it's right next to Montesano....Take Devonshire Rd turnoff...go past WDFW Region 6 office southward til you hit the Old Cental Park Aberdeen HWY...go right bout 1/4 mile...take left on Katon RD head south til you see the signs.

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/19/02 01:28 AM
Okay folks we need people to help out by bringen some stuff! Sawhorses and plywood for several tables. Barbecues and cajun cookers. Firewood. Beverages. As far as food ...think potluck...I'm working on Wango to create a huge pot of authentic cajun gumbo...otherwise bring what you want our can! Hopefully a certain someone will bring a large can of suds?

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/19/02 11:20 AM
I thought you had already pinned the rose on me for that? If I get a big one, as in a half barrell, we're lookin' at about $80; maybe I'll put out a donation cup for those who wish to consume?

Hey Goose....I have been wanting to do one of these flotillas for some time. Problem is that I work Saturday...will Sunday be O.K.? Also, I do have a boat but know nothing of where you are fishing. Care to clue me in? ( what to use, do I need downriggers, etc...) or can I get a spot on someone's boat? I'll do my part.

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/20/02 09:01 PM
Hey, a little better directions would help.
Where to turn off the highway from olympia, i know go west till what exit?
I like to go, i will be a little sore, have part of my mouth yanked out on the 4th, so i will not be talking alot, except with a real bad lispt.
I was the only one that made it to the one on the Satsop's last year, well at least i did not see anyone from either board there.
keep things posted. :p

Aunty M
Unless you have some real reason, would you mind posting the map on this board. I don't like to be switched to another board without my knowing it. Do you have a reason? Please explain !

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/20/02 11:46 PM
Busy it's in the tidewater section next to Montesano......you can fish all the way up to the mouth of the Satsop.....mainly a trolling show.....downriggers can be used just realize it can be shallow in places.....kwikfish, large multicolored spinners, herring all work....I'm sure some more knowledgeable people could provide more specifics....I plan on fishing certain zipper secret weapons. There's alot of choices for for methods and gear.

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/21/02 05:05 PM
Goose, my problem was that I do not have downriggers. Will the fishing be too tight for deep sixes? Am I better of getting on someone elses'e boat this time around? Thanks for the help.
Aunty M ... You can please some of the people some of the time...etc. Thanks

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/22/02 01:12 PM
Busy,
Leave the riggers and the deep sixes home, you don't need em'. A three way with a couple ounces will work if your using herring. Your plug of choice can be flatlined. Or flip some spinners and you might be suprised. See ya there.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

BigShark;
If you look back at most of the flotillas that have happened, AuntyM has been instrumental to there success. She has shared her trailer, boat, food and great commraderie.
Thank You Very Much AuntyM for your effort.

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/23/02 09:32 PM
Gutz and whomever.......
It has nothing to do with who made what fun or successful. Big Shark simply asked for
the map to be sent over here. Hasn't been a problem in the past. You all are invited but you have to go over and join the other board if you want the all the information.

Just show up and Aunty M will be MOM!
Marsha and Mike are awesome folkes to have at a Flottila. Always a pleasure.
Hey Marsh, do we need a turkey fryer again?
I'm looking forward to this one. SILVERS!!!! Got my big Vibraxs ready to go!
Hope I can swing my schedule.

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/23/02 11:55 PM
Hey PII,
You don't "have" to join anything. It's just a link, follow it and read away. Can't figure why it ruffled feathers!?!?!?!
Anyway the floatilla is open to whoever wants to show, we all have fun. I've met and made some great friends from trips arainged through the BB's (all 3) and from meeting folks at the floatillas. Hope to see ya all there!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Bigshark,
My advice to you is to stay home. If you can't follow a link to the map and the other pertinent info without pitching a fit, then you won't get along with everyone anyway.

I have to second Gutz by giving Marsha Due Credit, she is a phenominal host(Thanks Marsha). Just don't park your tent to close to the gathering, tends to get a little noisy till wee hours
*but no worries, not everyone will fall into your tent.
Should be a fun event. I am going to try and do Cajun Gumbo, with the help of Marsha and Gooose.
Want to thank all the Folks who help to organize these events.
Look forward to meeting new folks, and seeing the ones I have met at previous Flotillas.
for those not keeping Eggs, I will have Gallon bags to take em off your hands.

Is there going to be any kind of organized Pot-Luck on Sat. evening, or is everyone going Razor Clam Digging??

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/27/02 07:17 PM
I have had a change of plan. I have a call in to Friends Landing to reserve a campsite for Kalamabama and I.
Fish4steel;
Please bring good beer (not Bud :p ) I have a donation to the beer fund. Do you think 1/2 a barrell is gonna be enough?
Organized Pot Luck? I will bring a load of Grannies Tater Salad and who knows what may run out in front of the truck on the way down there.
I will be sure to bring the Time's for the Space Station Crossing. Hopefully it will be clear. (PS there are some good evening crossing this weekend go to
www.heavens-above.com )(Sorry about the redirect, it IS rocket science and I couldn't possibly give you the information without knowing where you are
)
See you there!

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/27/02 07:29 PM
GutZ, if you're going to be a wise a$$ YOU can bring the suds!! :p Seems to me it was Henry's last time. BTW, check your e-mail, please reply to the house, I'm only at work 12 hours per day
Gooose, I can only drag one toy with the truck, and that will be the boat. If someone has a place to properly fly Old Glory, I'll be sure to bring her! Piggies are in, going tomorrow, will give you a report

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/27/02 07:30 PM
Aunty M...thanks for the map...you are such a pro with graphics and such, I wanted to see where it was going to be held and it had nothing to do with your abilities as the hostess with the mostest at the flotillas.
And that is intended as a compliment.
As for the rest, perhaps I'll email you sometime soon.

DanS
No fit throwing was intended and am sorry if that was not understood. I say exactly what I mean to say. No more and no less.I do not wish to be switched to another board or have to register on another board to ask a question regarding a topic being discussed on this one. The map and other information is now provided here and I am sincere in thanking the lady for it. As for your advice, it will be solicited when wanted.

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/27/02 09:43 PM
Second that thought. Is that launch at Friends Landing sufficient for a 18ft boat? Or will I have to head to Westport?
Posted by: Jeffhead
Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/27/02 11:39 PM
Busy,
The launch at Friends Landing will handle a 18 ft boat. There are also launches at Montesano and Cosmopolis that are good launches without going all the way to Westport. To get to the Montesano launch exit at Montesano, turn left at the stop sign (Monte Square market/gas station will be right in front of you), follow the road to just past the lumber mill (about a mile or so) and there will be a turnoff (unmarked) on the left, this leads to the WDFW ramp. If you go over the river you have gone to far. Make sure to obey the 25 MPH speed limit by the mill, the cops work that stretch hard!!!
Now having said that the low tide on Saturday the 5th is 6:50 AM in Aberdeen and is a minus 0.9 which will make the launching at Friends tough for all, especially with the river down from no rains. The launch at Monte at that low tide will not be a picnic either. The adjustment for Cosmopolis is +9 minutes and for Monte it is +1 hr & 39 minutes so all may need to plan accordingly. For Sunday it is a -.7 ft @ 7:35 in Aberdeen. Not to scare anyone off, just to provide some info to all.
I personnaly plan on just fishing Saturday and then going clam digging Saturday evening. It looks like I will not be staying overnight as I have some fall baseball games to work on Sunday in Oly.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/27/02 11:53 PM
Shoot I forgot about the tides...we'll make it work anyway.
F4S can you tow the boat behind RV...if so I got the truck for launching...2 inch ball for your trailer? Yes definitely bring old Glory!
Organized potluck? No not really....bring what you want or can to contribute.....so far we have beans(mmmmm), salad, pies, maybe a deepfried turkey, I'll try to pick up some oysters, gumbo and who knows what! Oh and the Henrys hopefully for suds? Hey everyone post what you can have in mind.
We have several bankies posting...anyone got an open seat or two?

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/28/02 12:26 AM
Gooose
The launch at Friends, does it have at least 6 to 8" of water at low tide?
That's all a "REAL" Norther jet boat needs to launch
Oh, and 2 big fish boxes
Better not be any NETS!!! A "REAL" Northern jet boat don't do "REAL" good over nets!!!

Well,
I'm off to get some meat for the big dinner. Hopefully we will have some prime Mule Deer and Elk backstrap for the barbie. I'll wsee you guys in a few days.

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 09/28/02 11:35 PM
G-Man you'll have no problems....and there's a backup ramp just up the Chehalis River . I never seen any nets up that far....they're usually all down around Aberdeen. Rain this week should fill the fishbowl for everyone
.

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 10/01/02 09:09 PM
Well, now that Clamming is out, is there going to be a Pot-Luck on Sat. Evening??
The map on this thread is pretty much unclear, since I do not see any Devonshire Rd. Can you turn off Hwy 12 @ Aldergrove Dr. and go to Katon Rd. and then to friends Landing?
Posted by: Jeffhead
Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 10/01/02 11:25 PM
Drachir21,
I'm sure they will be a pot luck/get together on Saturday night, just bring what you feel like. I don't think there is any A to whatever bring this or whatever to Z bring that. As for the directions just go across the Wynoochie River bridge on Hwy 8 and take the first left, that is Aldergrove and it jogs into Katon, just follow it and you will get to Friends Landing.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff
PS,
The new avatar I put in is a sample of the fish, it is a Chehalis silver from last year taken on a spinner below the mouth of the Satsop.

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 10/01/02 11:39 PM
As at F4.2 the main feast potluck will be saturday evening.....we don't do the assigned dish by first letter of last name thing.....bring what you want....that's the part of the fun.....impromptu dishes such as cajun deep fried steelhead by GMan and that stew that GutZ created even though it really didn't include a golden retreiver
....well you never know what you'll see! One thing I'm thinking might be handy just in case is some tarps, ropes, stakes and poles just in case it's a bit damp.

What should I bring? Who can help? He's bored with silvers!!
Want's something bigger!!!
What'd you expect for a 10 year old bull rider?
I'll bring my turkey cooker, you all bring something for the HOT OIL. Prawns are awesome!! No, not hot dogs FS!

Hey People;
I asked again, are there any places at or around friends landing to plunk from shore???
I asked a couple of days ago and no answer.
I know up at Comso launch there seems to be plenty of bank, but i have never fished the Chelias so i will need some more directions.
Thanks

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 10/03/02 09:46 PM
Thanks Marsha,
Loading gear and boat tonight.
Me and Shane are coming down tomarrow nite and bringing the fryer
I'll pick up some chickens to deep fry!
Elmtree, there are a few places to plunk right at Friends Landing. Be there early because those spots fill up fast. Theres plenty of places there to plunk, but only a couple a clear of snags.
Look forward to seeing you all there.

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 10/09/02 09:05 PM
I greeted just about every boat that launched from 6:15 am till i left around 1:00 pm.
Folks, where was anyone???
I think i saw AuntyM, you and Uncle took out an older couple, like your folks for the morning fish?
I was plunking right there at the boat launch, i was wearing a black coat, black jeans and a black plaid shirt with a red ball cap. I have a shagging black and gray beard, an i was missing a whole lot of teeth as of friday morning, so talking was a little difficult. Every tried to say, Pistcatorial pursuits, with a real bad lisp.
I saw a nice fresh silver caught right out front of the boat launch just after light and a very nice 47" sturgon that came in just before i left.
It seemed strange that all the folks i talked too, did not know about a foatilla or Bob's pp bb.
Saw some real funny looking outfits going into the water, called boats!
They sure will put just about anything in there to go out, no matter how over loaded and 10 foot row boat with 3 adualt men in it plus a 10 hp gas motor, fishing gear and a 5 gallon gas can. Good thing there are no big currants flowing, this one would have big trouble staying afloat.
Like someone else stated, where are the report's.
I had 2 line rubs while plunking. from looking at the sturgon, i feel it more than likely could have been one of them swimming by. Or it could have been one of the sea lions that kept swimming up and down around the boat launch.
no more

Re: Flotilla 6.9 - 10/10/02 10:55 AM
Thank You AuntyM, but after being rejected by the first 15 or so boater's i was a little depressed about talking to people, especially with a sore mouth.
Maybe next time, i have been to 3 of these so far, and only got togther at the flotilla on the N. Lewis last year.
