Selecting / Suggestion on Fly Boxes

Does anyone have any successful methods or system for carrying all those maraboo flies they would like to share. Type of fly box that's small enough to fit in a vest or chest pack, yet you don't need to take a dozen boxes. I need to get organized!

OB,

I like the large Nubby Tack boxes.... Fits roughly 50-60 marabou's tied on Alec Jackson 1/0's.

I agree, I like the Nubby Tack's as well. But if you watch on ebay, you can pick up the Scientific Angler's boxes cheap as well. I like them, since they don't hold water like standard foam boxes do, and the type of foam they have seems to last forever. It seams that standard foam holds water and rusts hooks out fast if you forget to pull out and dry them. Holds plenty of flies to boot. I have a few of them. Hell, I even use just standard boxes you put corkies in. Since I normally only use a handful of patterns mostly, they can pile up no problem. But when I want diversity, I have SA's loaded to T.

I've got a serious soft spot for the Wheatley clip boxes...they make a great box because they are light, incredibly and durable, hold a lot of flies and most importantly, they protect them.

The clips allow me to lay my flies on their side which protects the wings on my bucktails and with the deep box, I can lay a Spey or Spade on it's side, pull it out when its ready to be fished and the hackles are as full as they were the day I tied it. I am just sure to open them up and let them dry (like any flybox) after a day of fishing to reduce rust and color bleeds.

If you really want to get fancy, take a look at the C&F Flyboxes...they come in all differnt shapes and styles and come with removable swing leafs and removable inserts.

The one I would recommend would be the Large Fly Box...it is very deep, totally waterproof and very durable, plus I believe it floats. The only downside is they are a tad heavy and bulky.
