Wynoochee Hatchery - 12/10/02 06:27 PM
Been digging through some old articles about the Nooch and the hatchery runs. From all the maps I have I can't find a hatchery anywhere.I know there's one on Lake Aberdeen but that doesn't seem right.Any ideas
Maybe I just need a new Gazetteer

The Nooch fish are from the Lake Aberdeen hatchery.

The fish can migrate all the way up to the Wynoochee Dam.

The fish can not make it all the way to the dam, there is a "falls" right close to where the fish collection trap is.
WDF, does put some fish above those falls but not many. Most of the "wild fish" are trucked up above the dam and released there, also many hatchery fish also are trucked "above the dam".
Not much wild steelhead spawning in the Wynoochee River. The river is planted with fish from the Lake Aberdeen hatchery. The water for this hatchery comes from the Wynoochee river.
