The Coyote is my go to spoon for summer kings or blackmouth in shallower water, but as deep as I have been fishing lately the Coho Killer has been working a lot better. Deep means luminous and Silver Horde spoons are just a lot brighter, although I'm working on remedying that on some Coyotes with some new paint I got for Xmas <img border="0" alt="[santa]" title="" src="graemlins/santa.gif" />
I always take good care of the finish on my spoons, but keeping a little smelly jelly on them does seem to preserve the paint a little better. I rinse them, dry them off, grease them a little, and keep them in plastic bags in my tackle box.
I always use a Hotspot with a spoon, and I like a little longer leader on the Coyote for summer kings - 5 feet even. For blackmouth 42" is better. And I like a stiff leader as it transmits more action to the spoon - 40 pound Berkley Big Game is about right.
You will find that everyone does it differently
