Well, I think the brat run is over - 12/28/02 01:41 PM

This last rain we had over Christmas did'nt bring the brats into the Quileute system. I talked to some Tribal Fishers who said they had very limited success on the drop of this high water with a few brats and a small influx of wild fish. Over all very low numbers of fish, and the last nail in the coffin for are hatchery run this year. frown frown

Truly disappointing. I had great hopes, after the recent salmon runs.

Maybe after one more high water, we'll see some fish, but I'm starting to lose hope. Good thing I got some golf balls for christmas.

Over? Down here in Beaverland, it seems it's hardly started! I hope it's not over!

What?!? You can't be giving up already. Some brats are still coming and the nates are just getting going. This season is a damn long ways from over now. Keep at it...............you'll get that elusive first steelhead. wink

FFF: I havent fished for a week, but I mostly fish the carbon/ puyallup / green rivers. I dont really know many places to fish but some people have been nice enough to take me a few places. Most people keep their Steelhead fishing spots under rapps so its hard for a 2nd year fisherman to find them on their own. Im very greatfull for the people that have helped me so far along the way. I will continue to fish the green, but I hear its not that great of a river anymore for steel. I dont know yet when the season starts nor ends for that matter yet, but im beginning to learn. Im hoping to meet a few more people and go fishing with them when they are going to be fishing some of the more popular spots... "this way they dont have to give up secret spots" I can find those on my own hopefully in time. Im not giving up yet, trust me on that one. I just dont like to fish alone, and all of my friends that fish are fair weathered fisherman. They stop after about september.

The columbia Springers where late as well as most other strains of Salmon in washington, The Summer run was super as well as most salmon runs, Still seeing semi fresh silvers in rivers that should be done with them by now. They will come just as the rest have and in good numbers, Just late, like two seasons ago when we had a dry fall. Have patience... AND PRAY!!!!!!!!!!
