Most likely it will be the last goverment sactioned one in the developed world during our lifetimes.

While they have the marksmen handy and the rifles sighted in, I wonder if they'd be open to accepting a few more candidates?

I have a few suggestions.

during these trying economic times, utah should conserve rounds by adopting the former soviet union method - one pistol round to the back of the head. also, since the perp does get shot in the back of the head, no blindfold needed, so more savings for the taxpayer.

The Germans one-upped them on the efficiency thing with the gas vans.

I'm not such a big fan of mass-extermination because it's a waste of man power. I wouldn't mind seeing vagrants sterilized then shipped off to poor farms, workhouses and labor camps though.

I would like to see thieves fitted with shock collars and forced into temporary servitude for their victims.

It's a sad irony that Utah decided to go with lethal injection over firing squad executions due to too much unfavorable publicity, making this the state's final firing squad execution. Objective analysis reveals that the firing squad method is at least as humane as lethal injection (death by poisoning) and hanging (acute shock to CNS). The debate over capital punishment is ALL about emotions and not much else.

I agree a lot with the ACLU, but they got the capital punishment by firing squad argument all wrong (emotionalism IMO). They call it barbaric. So what form of execution do they think isn't barbaric? They call it arbitrary. What's arbitrary when only criminals convicted of murder are executed? Flat out doesn't meet the definition of arbitrary. They said it "bankrupts" the practice of capital punishment. OK, I can't call that comment anything less than stupid. How does a firing squad "bankrupt" capital punishment when it's clearly effective, quick, and as humane as any other alternative? The discussion is emotional, not rational.

Capital punishment is nothing more nor less than society's expression of protecting itself from harm. Interesting given that protection is the primary reason that humans form clans, tribes, city-state-nations instead of scattering randomly about the landscape.

Firing squad is a helluvalot quicker and cleaner than Old Sparky. Electric Chairs take cooking a guy for 3 minutes straight and sometimes still don't finish the job.

Put the garbage in a Big hole in a local land fill and drop a dump truck load of dirt from a great height on it. Done. Kind of like flushing a toilet. The fact that we spend millions and millions of dollars a year to store turds in prison for life is stupid. All along people that love this country die for it almost every day. What is worse? someone defending there country against us or some chit bag killing and raping US citizens from within.
I would not be opposed to being on one but My only problem with a firing Squad is that someone has to clean up after it.
