I would think a lot of folks who grew up in smoggy cities before the advent of pollution controls would be dropping off by right about now.
And you'd think more fast lane rock stars would be dropping off too. But then you have David Crosby. How's that guy still alive?
No kidding. Keith and Ozzy too. They actually studied Ozzy's genes to find out WTF is going on with that guy.
Another great Rickman quote from Robin Hood.....
[the Sheriff has said he'll cut out Robin Hood's heart with a spoon] Guy of Gisborne: Why a spoon, cousin? Why not an axe? Sheriff of Nottingham: Because it's DULL, you twit. It'll hurt more.
rumor has it that fly-head hater, Jim from the Hoh, committed virtual suicide. Too bad it didn't stick, he's only in a coma.
Now I kinda feel bad for picking on the retard...
not!
Sheesh. I got called Hitler and a lefty by her.
First off, for a gal that kept asking people if they were in the military, she sure doesn't know a whole lot about hierarchy. I'm more like the SS...with TRBO being Hitler.
Second, how did she know I was left handed?
Lastly - no BanHammer for her. I just restricted her ability to post to...oh..say...once a month.
She's probably reading this right now and screaming at her computer screen. She should be out fishing for all those big hatchery fish on the Hoh right now......
Democracy? Free Speech? On PP?
Ok, back on track. These deaths seems to come in 3's. So, my guess for the 3rd person to die this week is......
Kirk Douglas
The dude is 99...and only looks to be 115!!! He's a goner!
We've got an actor: Kirk Douglas We've got some rockers: Keith Richards, Ozzy, and Crosby We have some in the political spotlight: Donald Trump, Bill Clinton
The Jackhammer is playing on a single, local, course these days. Sometimes you gotta play the front nine...and sometimes it's the back nine. Just to keep things interesting. He's retired from the professional circuit.
Am I the only one who's a little concerned at the number of sub-70 people kicking the bucket these days? I mean, I know some are rockers, but come on! Cancer is claiming an alarming percentage, too.... Could it be that life expectancy is trending down?
Well, the good news is that all these dying Boomers will free up a little Social Security....
Yeah, all these 70 and younger kicking the bucket bothers me. Probably because I can see that number from my back porch. And to think I used to think that 60 is old; wha' happened? Therefore I keep rootin' for guys like Keith Richards, Sir Paul, and Mick the Lip, to keep on keepin' on. It gives me hope.
Oh, and props to Stam for his Monsanto remark. Solid gold, once again. That guy is way smarter than he looks.
You got that right. It sounds like the Cancer experts don't think it's curable. But they think they might be able to trick the human body immune system to ward it off. Don't quote on the exact details it was long ago I read about it.
There's some promising genome / genetics going on. Believe it or not, Elephants rarely if ever get cancer due to a duplicate genome that suppresses its starting mechanism. The trade off is a longer gestation and lower birth rate.
Here's a question: If we could cure or severely suppress cancer through genome manipulation, would "designer babies" become more morally ethical or acceptable?
I didn't know that about Elephants, one my favorite animals. When they die the herd really mourns the death, sometimes carrying their bones with them. They also die in areas that are hard to find.
After the fun that was had in 60's; 70's and 80's...it's amazing that even half that list is still around. The next 5 - 10 years is going to be rough for the legends.
yea the list has left out many. it does a good job of giving you an idea of how many will be dropping. not even the living dead Keith Richards is on the list.
Glenn Fry....dead at 67. While I wasn't a big Eagles guy, he was an undenaible talent and will be missed by the music community and his fans alike. RIP.
Jeezus..who's next? Sad to say that this thread should almost be made a sticky...
Watched Woodstock the other night. What a party, watching the 350 to 500K "kids", along with the flashbacks I wondered just how many of those had passed and how short our time really is.
Just remember: The good Lord does not deduct from your allotted time the hours you.. .....spend fishing.
EWF was arguably the best R&B band in my lifetime. My favorite group thru high school and college, and still a staple on the boat stereo. That song "September" personally brings back many fond memories of happier days gone by... made even more special because the opening line makes a reference to my birthdate. Finally, the month of September remains the highlight of my piscatorial calendar.
I missed watching the Grammy's the other night, but thought I'd share this musical tribute to MW by Pentatonix and Stevie Wonder performing White's signature anthem "Way of the World"
Ben Haggard 53 mins · A week ago dad told us he was gonna pass on his birthday, and he wasn't wrong. A hour ago he took his last breath surrounded by family and friends. He loved everything about life and he loved that everyone of you gave him a chance with his music. He wasn't just a country singer.. He was the best country singer that ever lived.
RIP Merle. One of the original outlaws and an all around great musical talent! I'm a huge DAC, Marty Robbins, Gene Watson old country fan. I listen to AM 1520 almost exclusively. New country isn't country.
There's times I could beddown on a sofa and let some pretty lady rub my back And spend the early morning drinking coffee And talkin' about when I'll be coming back Cause I don't let no woman tie me down and I'll never get too old to get around I'm gonna die along the highway and rot away like some old highline pole Rest this ramblin' fever in my soul Ramblin' fever...
Merle's passing reminds me of '65, being 19 in Japan in the Navy, sitting on the back steps of a shipmate's family rental drinking Jim Beam & listening to Merle, Buck Owens & other cw musicians of the time. We got his Japanese landlord drunk & in trouble with his wife a couple of times. He loved country music but did have any. We gave him some cw lps when we shipped out. RIP Merle.
My father took me to a MH concert in Seattle in the 90's. I was reluctant, but the guy could sing and every song had a story we all could relate to. Some days, when the world is beating me up, I remember the lyrics to "Big City" and I feel better....RIP Mr. Haggard.
Lot has been said negatively about contemporary country music and the artists who perform it. My CW music tastes favor the classics, the old boys and the outlaws; however, after reading this story, I'll hold my criticism of the young guns.
prince was one of the cleanest living entertainers out there. i'm 99.9% certain this is not drug(illegal recreational drug) related. .01% thinking this is drug related.
here's my theory. prince may added a few glasses of wine with a couple oxycontins.
The average score on most IQ tests is 100, and approximately 68 percent of all people score somewhere between 85 and 115. For those who fall below 85, scores are often classified in the following way:
Yeah, Ali was a "draft dodger". How many of the current and recent politicians actually served in the active military; how many went to 'Nam? And they criticize him?
A goat/horse [Bleeeeep!] using the term pig [Bleeeeep!] to point out racism is just a bit hypocrytical... tolerance, dude.
Ali was a bit of a childhood hero...I still have that poster of Cassius Clay standing over Sonny Liston that I had hanging on my wall when I was a kid somewhere.
Sad to hear about Gene Wilder. He was an amazing talent. His chemistry with Richard Pryor was pure magic. Those two made me laugh uncontrollably, often just with their expressions, without fail.
I was surprised to learn Wilder was 83 years old, so at least he isn't another "all too soon" case.
John Glenn is a tough one. His resume and biography is extraordinary. Like Yeager before him, his balls were legendary. NASA had to redo all of their fuel consumption calculations and design special space suits to accomodate his massive balls.
Alan Thicke - meh. It's sad he died while playing Hockey with his teenage Son. Past that, the dude offspringed Robin Thicke, so he probably isn't in heaven now.

Earlier today I was thinking it was too bad it wasn't his douche bag kid.

John and Neil Armstrong will be talked about in school about 100- 200 years from now like Christopher Columbus was when we grew up.
Carrie Fisher almost died a bit ago and is not out of the woods yet. On a flight LAX - London and had a major heart attack 15 minutes before landing. She was brain dead for most of it. Probably deep vein thrombosis and a clot broke free. Take your asprin when flying people!
Blood clots on older people are probably of more concern.
Where do you think these blood clots come from? DVT. Older passengers whom sit for too long end up having blood pool in their DVT (usually the lower legs). Once they stand up, the clot breaks off and boom...heart attack. The trick is to wear compression socks, take 1 chewable baby aspirin every 2 hours (blood thinner) and get up and move about the cabin every 1 - 2 hours during long flights (4 - 6 hrs +).
Carrie was overweight, had DVT and had / has a very well known and lengthy love affair with cigs, alcohol and piles upon piles of Colombian marching powder. This shouldn't come as a surprise. She's 60 but her body and heart is 80.
Sad - she was dead for between 10 - 15 minutes. I doubt her brain will ever recover.
The good news is, if she dies - she will become more powerful than you can ever imagine.

What a lucky guy! Can you imagine walking on the Moon and staring at planet Earth. I doubt there could be anything comparable to that. He put the initials of his Daughter in the moon dust.
I had to look that guy up. I remember his face now, but I can't say that I ever watched the GS. Bad few days for guys named Chuck. Hope Ol' ChuckyS is doing well and doing his thing.
That makes me wonder when someone will create The Bong Show. After every answer you give, you'd have to take a bong rip of some killer indica. By the time they get to the final questions, it should be pretty funny watching them try to do anything more than drool on themselves.
Have you ever watched Drunk History? I thought it would be dope to have a show called "High Conspiracy Theories" and have a bunch of celebs get all blazed up and re-tell famous conspiracies in their own words.
SD, it was my first concert too. At the concert, I bought a 6' tall poster of Frampton for my dorm room at CWU. It was cool and girls liked it. Oh, those were the days......
What little I remember, everyone was throwing TP rolls around the stage. One dropped below my feet,I picked it up and threw it on stage hitting Peter in the thigh.....everyone was going crazy when he picked it up and threw it back into the crowd. You're right, those were the days.
Side story: Some guy smuggled some gas into the Dome and was lighting these huge flame balls into the air off the cement floor. I doubt you don't see that anymore.

I hope your visiting gals didn't accidentally scream out " Harder Peter" no pun. lol
SD, the poster was above my headboard clear to the ceiling. Their view of him was upside down so no comments from them.....sometimes they couldn't see him at all....
Christopher "Big Black" Boykin died a few days ago... a genuinely good dude...
I hope Pete is on the phone looking for a back up for Wilson. How ironic would it be they sign Kraperdick. Makes a lot of sense. RW has never missed a snap in practice or a game....look out Favre for the most games played in a row by a QB.

Outside of Freddie Mercury, he had the best voice in Rock history - IMO. I'm sitting here crying like a little bitch. Never had a celeb death make me feel this way. I probably shouldn't get too worked up over someone that was not in my personal life, but this one really, really, really stings for me.
Say Hello to Heaven Chris.

Pretty crazy news right there. He seemed the most together of the whole crowd.
I don't think any singer in the 90's has/had it "together".
Just ask Superfly.

Although...I have been watching "Year Million" on Nat Geo. Looks like man will eventually be taken over by, and merge with AI...and we will just become a bodyless "higher thought" living in some collective harnessing energy from the sun to "exist".
WHOA.....MIND BLOW!!!! (takes another hit)
In the meantime, until that million years shows up, I'm still more worried about the SHTF on June 1!
I'm devastated. BY FAR my favorite musician. What. the. actual. fvck!!!!!!!
Sad. Loved Soundgarden. Heard a few Chris Cornell stories. He used to hang with Ben Shepard on Bainbridge. Saw Soundgarden a few years ago before the Hawks Packers opener. I grew up on grunge. Lived in Seattle and listened to Nirvarna, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice In Chains. RIP Chris!
Damn...he was a beast to be taken seriously...a game changer. He reminded me of Warren Sapp in stature only, but kept his mouth shut and did his job at the highest level(8)Pro bowl's. R.I.P. Tez.
So you have a woodie and the munchies....good times, what are you going to do....eat a bag of Funyuns but throw every other one at your Johnson in a game of ring toss?
Hugh Hefner went to the big tiit-tay in the sky. Dead @ 91. Not sure if "heaven on earth" exists, but that cat surely came the closest to finding out. In other news, Pfizer stock tanked in after hours trading.
There will never be another "Fats" Domino. Extreme BMI Domino, perhaps. Fitness Challenged Domino, or Morbidly Obese Domino, maybe. But, no more "Fats", and that is a shame.

And you'd think more fast lane rock stars would be dropping off too. But then you have David Crosby. How's that guy still alive?
Crosby got a new liver. Then fathered kids for Melissa Etheridge. Of course she's gay so he had to give Melissa and her wife/husband the goop in a bottle.
He was the best. I have a fond memory of coming back to the rigs after an October morning in the chukar hills and listening to Keith Jackson calling a game.
He was the best and probably my favorite game announcer of all time. You just knew it was a big game when he was on the mic. Always the professional, never picked sides and knew the game inside and out. They don't make em' like that anymore. Now we get Herby and Joe Buck.
Seems to me that those of us who are the more chronologically gifted here have grown older having some of the best sports announcers ever. While I don't want to sound like my Dad's "You call that music?", I listened to a lot of guys who could talk rings around the current crop of mouthpieces.
The Big Game, whether World Series, Rose Bowl, NBA finals, and so on lives in our minds not only with the image but with the voice. Who saw US v. USSR hockey in '80. Bet that brings more than just a visual to mind. Can today's announcers do that?
When I was young I talked with Keith Jackson on the phone, he had called to talk with my father, but he wasn't home. They were both sports announcers at the time.
Damn - sorry to hear. I'd rather trade away 99% of the people that walk the earth for a good dog. My old pup is getting up there and I don't even want think about when that day comes....
Just found out that Ray Thomas died a week ago. He put the Moody Blues together. It's almost criminal they're not in the R/R HOF. They had massive smash hits. For years and years this song and Stairway to Heaven always battled for the best song of all time.
My uncle and Dad have both passed away this month. Been a bad month for me and the family.
Unfortunately, these things usually come in three's.
If I were all y'all, I'd stay the fark away from me! The Grim Reaper ain't got nuthin' on me!
a friend of mine committed suicide a couple months ago, shot himself in his driveway after arguing with his ex wife...
cant even get a break for a year it seems...
im not going to be one of those people that says "it will get better", because it doesnt get better, it just becomes easier to deal with, if you want to say that...
Sorry for your loss Parker, I dread the day my folks pass. I'm blessed to have the best Parents on this rock (bias) As selfish as it sounds I some times wish I would go first. I lost my youngest Sister on 12-25-97....just brutal to see my folks have to go through that. They just celebrated their 61st anniversary. Didn't mean to hi jack this thread. Hang in there and be around your family as much as possible.
What a way to go eh? Poor lady. One minute, you're enjoying your Grey Goose while solving Sudoku & listening to some World Music and then the next second, you are halfway sucked outta the side of a gawd damned modern passenger airliner. I guess when it's your time, it really is your time.
I kinda want to go out like that. Like when people hear about it, they go..."really? huh. That can happen? No chit. Huh. Poor basturd".
R. Lee Ermey is a bummer. Gunnery Sgt. Hartman is my favorite single movie character of all time.
A great First Lady and human being. We should all be able to agree on that.
Laura Bush is one classy Lady too, she stills has many years to look forward to. Melanie Trump comes across as being stuck up, I bet she could be a real beetch....never smiles.
This was quite a shock when I read about Anthony Bourdain this morning. I was a big fan of his. Damn.
People, if you ever have suicidal thoughts, RUN to a counselor or call a suicide hot line. Don't wait. There's no shame in seeking help. And there is help out there.
Pretty hard to imagine anyone not liking Bourdain's work. Heck, even Trump had nice things to say about him in the article I read. That's high praise (if from low places) for a CNN employee.
That Bourdain committed suicide really got me thinking. It seemed to me like he lived the sort of life I always wanted to live; fine food and drink, travel far and wide, learning about other cultures, getting paid all the while... Wow. Yet, even all that luxury and adventure couldn't satisfy the root of his depression. Kind of brings home how true happiness can't be found in far off places, in a pile of money, on a plate, or at the bottom of a glass. Really makes you wonder what tortured him so. Seems like he was less lucky at love than luxury. Sad deal.
Since only about 29 states maintain the equivalent of net neutrality under their respective state laws, we might get to see which way yields the best service to the greatest number at the least cost.
Not that any of you old crunchy mossbacks have any idea who Pantera was,but Vinnie Paul died at 54 years of age. Shame that the dad outlived both sons and a wife. Vinnie had to watch his brother gunned down while playing a gig. [Bleeeeep!] up man. RIP Abbot brothers Dime and Vinnie.
I ran into a couple of this Sonics while out shopping or running. Couple friends used to play pick-up basketball with some of them. They were more accessible then.
Regarding Burt, anyone that got to cozy up to Sally Field in her prime lived a good life.
The Flying Nun?
C'mon, you'd take her over Loni Anderson?
Sheesh
I never said that. I'd take either or both. An adorable small spunky brunette paired up with a leggy T&A blonde. Sounds about near perfect. All that's missing is the crazy eyes stabby stab redhead and the trifecta would be complete.
Just heard that....sad. He has done so much for the South Lake Union and other places in Seattle. If it wasn't for Him the SeaHawks wouldn't be here. The moving truck's were in Kirkland loading container trucks.
I hope he has some sort of trust to keep the Hawks in Seattle. I'm sure his Sister will get the assest's. I've heard through several People that she's a real beeeeetch. R.I.P Paul
Maybe we can buy it like Green Bay did with stock options. I bet the team is worth about 4-6 billion dollars.
That's just a guesstimate. The NFL doesn't just give franchises away, which interns causes bloated prices. When there are several multi billionaires you can throw all that chit out the door. The Clippers started out at around 1 billion...Ballmer threw out crazy money and now has a new team. No different than a Barrett car auction.
Paul Allen was much much more than a Sports Team owner. He liked 2001 (the movie) in Cinerama, so he bought it when it was a dump and made it beautiful. His Living Computer Museum is great. The Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum in Everett is beyond cool. What his vessel the RV Petrel is doing with finding the WWII wrecks (Indianapolis, Helena, Lexington to name a few) speaks to a man who had lots of money and lots of big ideas! He did save the Seahawks and then stepped out of the way and let football guys run the operation to lead us to the Golden Age of Seahawks football. He leaves big footprints! RIP.

Agree.
This is a huge loss for everyone. He is going to be sorely missed.

I cannot believe this isn't getting more national attention. He's right up there with Ben Franklin, Neil Armstrong, John Glenn, Steve Jobs, Gates.......on and on.

Maybe you should watch something other than Fox News...it was on every national news show last night and again this morning. Fox probably needed to talk about emails or rape allegations instead.

James "Whitey" Bulger, 89. Found dead in his Federal prison cell. Cause of death under investigation. Bulger had complained of "chest pains" several times since being incarcerated.
I remember when Willie came up. Rookie of the Year for a half season. Giants were "blessed" with first basemen so Willie went to left so the Baby Bull could play first. That didn't work. As with many who came up with SF, Orlando found success elsewhere but Willie anchored first and missed winning the '62 Series by millimetres. Agree, Hank, he was a great. And, as I said, saw him hit one magnificent home run. RIP.
I wish I had my old comic collection from when I was a teen. I had a [Bleeeeep!] ton of old Xmen and all the old Moon Knight comics, avengers, conan,dr stange, all the good ones. RIP
Mark Hollis, lead singer of Talk Talk, not Talking Heads. '80's band, one of my favorites. "It's my life" and "Life is what you make it" got me through my divorces. RIP Mark.
The singer/songwriter who penned "You shake my nerves, and you rattle my brain" has suffered a stroke. Eighty-three year old Jerry Lee Lewis is expected to recover.
I have John Havlicek's autograph. The Celtics were playing the sonics, my dad was a college coach and we got to wait near the locker rooms after the game. Got his, Lenny Wilkins, Tom Heinsohn, and Don Nelson that night...I was about 13.

John Havlicek and Walter Payton where my idol's as a Kid.
Amazing dude Lauda was and how quickly he recovered from the burns from that crash. He could have taken his family's silver spoon but he did it his way. SF
Speaking of Moonshine...Joe Merlot, who used to post here, brought genuine smuggled Bulgarian Moonshine to one of my barn party's, I drank it...it was good.
...real good.
Your eyes glazed over and you started walking around like a zombie afterwards. I recall you walking up to me, putting your face right up to mine, your eyes never focused, and you stumbled away. You took an hour or so nap in the house, got up, rallied, and was back at the party drinking warm goat milk when I left. Poor goat.
I can remember this like it was yesterday. I was in the cub scouts as well and me and my dad built a pinewood car. The day of the race I said Fvck in the classroom and some girl ratted on me. I got in trouble at school and with the cub master. Didn't get to race that night. That was the end of scouts for me. Took up sports instead.
Stam do you remember the rain gutter regatta where you build the little pine boat with a sail and had to blow it down the gutter and race your buddies? Lol takes me back..
My grandfather and Bart were good, life long friends. When he passed, Bart sent the family a wonderful letter with old photos of them together and a huge flower arrangement. Mr. Starr was a class act.
A long, long time ago - like in the 50's, Bart borrowed my Gramps 30-30 model 1894 for deer hunting. He slipped and fell on some rocks and took a nice gouge of wood out of the fore end. I've long since been the owner of that 1894 and it's beauty mark caused by Mr. Starr. It's my absolute all time favorite gun and it's taken 3 generations of big game animals including my first deer and elk. It's easily my most prized family heirloom.
Sad. He was a big f, sad he couldn’t ever keep his weight down
Victim of bad youth, HS coaching and parenting. He should have never been a QB. There are lots of huge, athletic, strong guys that can huck a football. Doesn't mean they should play QB. As with all youth football, most coaches put the unstoppable kid at QB or RB. Somebody a long time ago should have told him "look kid, yeah you can toss it, but you are going to be a TE or DE". Instead of fighting his size and weight, he could have been allowed to grow into his frame.

Yeah I was reading some pop up about him. Let himself get out of shape. Bad on the kidneys.
RP was definitely ahead of his time in a number of ways. His platform was pretty solid across the board and I think he'd be considered an ultra-centrist today. He had some very left and very right views. He'd be impotent in today's hard left and right society, as all centrists today are.
This incident leaves so many questions unanswered:
Is this environmentally more responsible than cremation or composting?
Wouldn't a roll of dog waste bags be considerably cheaper than a coffin or urn? Assuming you weren't buying the bags at a funeral home.
What's worse...being consumed by your canine companions, or drowning while innertubing with your pet pig? The latter example actually happened in WA this weekend.
Three dogs were adopted out; if a dog's tasted Mack, will it ever go back?
Do you really want to be a crime scene investigator?
If Mr. Mack had already expired before he became dog nutrients, maybe the horror of this story is that the animals had to consume their owner, and then several of their own to survive...kind of a Donner Party story for dogs.

That was an amazing movie and one of my favorite all time quotes. Also "Fiery thee angels fell..."
Tred Barta? I respected that guy for his fight and for his willingness to take the hard road in everything he did. Past that, that dude came across as a total arrogant douche bag braggart. Not my style, but he got the job done - so I can't knock on a dead dude too much...
PIP Carl Ruiz. He was on food channel but I mostly know him being friends of opie and Anthony. He was funny didn’t know him of course but felt like it.
Captain Spaulding. One of the best horror roles of all time. His last role in "3 from Hell" is the conclusion to the Rob Zombie trilogy and releases to theatres next week. For those that haven't seen House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, these movies are not for the faint of heart or those that only "sorta" enjoy horror movies "sometimes". Fair warning!
I watched the Beware Mr. Baker film. Confirmed what I already knew, being a great musician doesn't make you a great person! But, my God, what a great musician!!!
Larry Junstrom, founding member of Lynrd Skynyrd dies at 70.
Junstrom helped form Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1964 with his high school classmates - vocalist Ronnie Van Zant, drummer Bob Burns and guitarists Gary Rossington and Allen Collins - under the name My Backyard.

I just found out I lost a buddy. Old timer. Fisherman. Hardheaded. All around good dude. He had terrible demons and just couldn't turn the corner. From the sounds of it, those demons finally won. They always do.

That hurts. I have lost a few to demons. Life is precious. Live it!
I'm in the middle ground on Stern...I think he was great for many things in the NBA, but it was definitely his ego that got in on letting the Sonics move, and he's going to have a hard time finding any friends around here for that!
Love basket, Played 2 to 3 time a week for years. My brother actually had season tickets for a while and I was able to go to a ton of games. Under Stern, the product of the game, in my opinion, fell to a show boat arena, reminding me more of Big Time Wrestling than true basketball. Every day it seems I see a game highlight, and everyone is showing some 7 foot giant slamming into people and dunking the ball. Yes there is some skill, but not nearly as much as some of the true shooters of years ago. I pretty much quit watching when I saw a bad call during a playoff. A star player tried to dunk and was cleanly blocked. He started crying like a two year old and the refs blew a late whistle. The resulting free throws resulted in his teaming pulling ahead and winning the series. . After the game they interviewed the rookie and asked him how he felt about the call going against him. His response was classic and basically summed up the state of the game. "he deserves calls like that. When I have more time in the league, the refs will start to call them in my favor." Basketball is now more about making stars, pop culture, and making money than providing a good, fair game. It seems to work in the money department, but you won't see me buying into it.
It does seem to be all about making stars pop culture and maximizing revenue which all comes at the expense of good quality sound basketball. I don’t think I’ve seen so many “super teams” going back 15-20 years ago. A lot of teams had a couple all stars, but nothing like now. You make more money playing in LA and New York and other big markets.
Not only the only good thing about Rush, but one of the best rock drummers of all time.
Well you got one thing right,Neil was a drumming god. I think the bass and guitar playing of Rush was decent enough.
As for Neil Peart,he seemed to be a decent family man, suffered tragic losses of his wife and young daughter within a year, and dies of brain cancer. Geez. RIP big man,I'll crank some 2112 in your honor tonight.

Soulman Rocky Johnson. The father of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I grew up watching Rocky and his then tag partner Tony Mr. Usa Atlas on saturday mornings. Here's a classic match between Rocky and everyone's favorite heel,Rowdy Roddy Piper.
This will turn out even more tragic if the pilot was not qualified to fly under IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) and flew into the fog bank anyway.
I'm no pilot but I have driven through Calabassas before and if memory serves, there's not much leeway on either side of Hwy 101 before you would hit the mountain sides. Woulda, coulda, shoulda would have been to turn that chopper around before even hitting the fog. I hope I'm wrong but jeez. Don't take risks like that.
Yeah, looks like it. Woulda, coulda, shoulda shoulda turned around, landed it in Van Nuys, and have a car drive them the 40 minutes to 1000 Oaks. I know, Monday morning quarterbacks.
I'm not seeing any reputable sources to confirm Toff's story. Some anti-Trump actors have made some claims, but no real proof.
Did he snort Adderall?
Probably.
Can that be actually confirmed?
Probably not.
THIS IS THE DARKSIDE AND ONLY THE TRUTH IS SPOKEN HERE!!!!!!
Whoa. ALL CAPS came out of me. I gotta stop sniffing adderall. And glue. And gold spray paint.
See even Parker knows the metallics are the best ones... Lol
I saw this tweaker back in the day walking down the street with silver paint exploded all over his face. Found his paper bag with the paint can too.. Fvckin junkies.
Well now we know what condition his condition is in.
Solid. The First Edition for the Win.
Kenny was the first to openly admit he wanted to be a star, tried out being a rock star and though the First Edition had moderate success, he wasn't able to get famous...so he decided to add the twang, and be a country star.
Lambright bled purple and gold, and IMO, who else could have followed the departure of Don James any better? He faced the NCAA sacntions head-on, and still kept the program together, and he did a damn fine job and then to get replaced for New-weasel...just a shame! RIP Lambo...WOOF!!
I bet Trump is sad...one of his tinpot despot role models has probably expired. He and Putin will really have to lean on each other for support.

Speaking of Dying, the county I live in is going to extend our shelfter in place order, probably until june at the earliest. I am now receiving the bills. Dying on the vine. It's impossible to maintain a small business with no cash flow for an extended period of time. Tradesmen are getting slapped with 3 and 4 thousand dollar fines here. It's one thing to have personal savings built up. But that tends to get eaten away very quickly. At what point do we get to try and salvage our livelihoods?
Who isn't dying? I'll tell you what is,the American dream and our way of life. R.I.P.
RIP cute dumb little Chick. 04/25/2020 - 05/01/2020.
Just returned from the funeral. He's been sent off to Valhalla (aka my compost pile) in fine, respectful order. He died a noble death so that worms and marigolds may live.
I thought of giving him a proper Viking burial by tying him to an arrow, lighting it on fire and sending him down range (neighbors yard), but that seemed like too much effort and possibly a citation from the local Constable.
Tough week for the funny guys...Fred Willard dead at 86.
That dude was pretty funny. He wasn't a household name per se, but he was instantly recognizable. Best in Show and A Mighty Wind are fantastically funny movies.
How did I miss this? I briefly met him one night when he was opening a new restaurant in FLA. Stopped by our table to ask how everything was and bought us a round on the house. Great coach and a nice guy. Fantastic, but spendy steaks.

I worked next to her Husband a Alaska Airlines when the whole story broke...nice Guy too. He then moved to Anchorage...with AA.
“she was "emotionally and physically abused by her husband" during their marriage, and twice "went to the hospital for treatment, and police were called,"
Nobody thought you were a good judge of character anyway...

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend Arvid. If it's any consolation, I'm sure he was very pleased to speak to you one last time. Unfortunately, a lot of folks don't get to say their proper goodbye's. As as difficult as that is, good on you for being able to connect before he passed. Take good care dude!

Keith Richards is a walking phenomena of nature, baffling all of medical science as to how this man can still be alive.
Keith died in 1979, it's just that nobody had the heart to tell him.
+Ozzy. They actually did a real genetic study on Ozzy and he really IS a freak of nature. Highly genetically resistant to hard drugs and stuff or something.
Crosby is another one. Like....how? Chit...even Stevie Nicks or Grace Slick! Slick is now 80+ or something. The human heart and liver is pretty amazing I guess...

Thank you guys for the well wishes. I can accept death as a part of life, and in fact I somewhat morbidly can't wait to see what happens. That said he lift behind a wife.
Bob was an older dude early 70s. Played drums in a band in Chicago called the Morgue back in the late 60s. He was quite a dude. He took PCP and went driving down the freeway once, said the speedometer read 55 but the trees on the side of the road were moving at a crawl . Anyway,we all have amazing stories, and in the words of Warren Zevon, appreciate every sandwich.

He was great in everything he was in. Even Quaker Oats commercials. He was really good in the Firm as the tough guy "Firm Enforcer". Not his typical grandpa style role....came off as a true menace.
Back in college, I convinced one of my dumber roommates that Ol' Wilfred was in old 70's Pornos...hence the stache. "The Dirty Quaker" and all that. We got some good laughs outta that one.

He gets me to check my blood sugar, and check it often.
Went hiking with a buddy of his over the weekend and he said he was knock-knock-knocking at deaths door.
I guess he was a pretty big deal in his radio days, but that must have been before my time, all I knew Pat as was the fast/smooth talkin' rehab shock therapy guy.
Pat O'Day was a disc jocky on KJR AM radio when it was the top rock and roll station in the Seattle and Puget Sound region in the 1960s. He was also a rock concert promoter, bringing many of the biggest name popular rock bands to the region in those days. Pat O'Day was a household name, even down in back woods south Thurston County.
So....you're saying he was to Fisheries what Booth Gardner was to hunting?
He definitely didn't make any sporting friends when he appointed Curt Smitch as Director, who promptly opened up a lot of non-tribal land to tribal hunting, that's for sure...but even that wasn't anywhere near the long term damage that the Gorton's Fisherman did to salmon and steelhead fishing around here.
The Gorton's had been strip mining the Sea for a long time before Slimy Slade came around but he definately helped the family/industry while significantly hurting the resources with his long term tenure!
The Booth/Smitch chit show hurt locally (personal opinion)...herds haven't rebounded (IMO); throw in WDFW poor choices since then (wolves, cougars mgmt), winterkill, wildfires, etc and the big game has really taken it in the shorts the last 25 years or so.
Kool & the Gang co-founder Ronald 'Khalis' Bell RIP.
For music history buffs, I read last night that Cathy "Sundown" Smith died @ 73 near the end of August. She was Gordon Lightfoot's muse and also the woman who injected Belushi with his fatal speedball the night he died (after Robin Williams and De Niro left his apartment).
His 1981 Islanders lost the title game to Shadle Park, a team featuring Mark Rypien, Scott Poole, Tom Peterson and Mark Anderson and coached by Dave Robertson, when the Highlanders scored what appeared to many to be a late basket.
I remember watching the highlights of this game my senior year in HS. I thought the shot was late. Rypien was a good athlete and could throw a football 70 yards later at Wazzu.

I remember listening to the game against SF when, as a rookie I believe, he scored something like 5 TDs and by so many different ways. He touched the ball, he scored.
Mixing Threads...I remember watching Brian's Song in Middle School (?) maybe, to teach us about empathy, racial relations, etc..or whatever?? GS was before my time, but I've seen highlights and he had fantastic talent!
A tall, high-stepping genius. Not many of that style and that style is fun to watch. Roger Craig is another.
+ Jim Brown, Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson, Lawrence Phillips to name a few others. Terrell Davis's form was close to a high runner, but I wouldn't call him a classic HR.
They don't make RB's like those anymore in favor of spark plug scat backs that can run horizontally and low to the ground (hide and seek ball). About the only high runner still around that I can think of is maybe Todd Gurley?
Anyway, down hill running with high knees is terrifying for all involved. I love seeing a RB simply truck a poor undersized DB.
You football experts forgot the most obvious example from contemporary football of a high stepper and a more classic RB, and the leading rusher last season: Derrick Henry.
I don’t understand why he doesn’t get hurt more watching im play, I think people don’t want to hit him as hard because they are scared.

Which is why the league has moved that way. One - they hide behind the line and two - they last a lot longer physically IMO.
True, but that certainly wouldn’t describe either Christ Carson or Carlos Hyde. Those pounders eventually have no tread left on the tires. I saw a video of Earl Campbell recently and it looked like he could barely walk. SF
Eh...Henry is just big, fast and ultra strong. I wouldn't call him a true high runner. To me, high runners naturally run with their knees breaking north of horizontal. Watch Henry run...it's just a normal gate with a slight forward lean (very similar to TD). Then watch video of Eric Dickerson and you'll immediately see the difference. DH is still amazing to watch though...

Ya I know what style you mean. Henry definitely isn’t the classic looking version, I just think his role and what he needs to do is the classic RB.
All truth. I watched about 20 mins of ED highlights last night. Incredible!
While on the subject of gates, I then watched some Deion highlights. That dude had the greatest and smoothest stride I've ever seen on the field. 10 yard 2 steps at top speed. He could run faster holding the ball with 2 hands chest high than the fastest guys without a ball and pads. The only other thing I can compare it to is Griffey's swing. Zero hitches anywhere. Perfection.

You're exactly right. When Saban trotted out Henry for the first time, I thought Ho Li Schitt, where does he find these guys ?
Aaaaand....... I really did see him play in The Arena in 1979, took sweet, sweet Connie, that was fun.

Eddie changed everything for me when I was 12 years old. He was a motherfucker on guitar, and he was cool. I wanted to be like him. the legends are on their way out folks, and we are left with the Jonas Brothers or a bunch of bands that sound like Coldplay.
I read All The Right Stuff. Those test pilots were half crazy. After they flew they would hit the bar and have a few drinks. I could see why. Trying to break the sound barrier.
Chuck Yeager has passed on at 97...what an amazing life he had.
God Speed, Chuck..
One of the more memorable moments of my 30 year military aviation career was meeting General Yeager and shaking his hand.

Larry King 87. The broadcast legend was divorced 7 times most recently in 2019. Surprised he survived so long as we was a heavy smoker, had triple bypass, and survived prostate and lung cancer.

It is always us versus them with guys like Rush, never a true motive to fix and bring together, just divisive rhetoric and pointing out enemies. Sadly it works too well.

Hey evotard, if you don't like reading what Todd writes, don't read his posts. It's that simple. Now go sit on mommy's couch and choke on another bag of Doritos.
Do you have evidence of all the malarkey you are accusing Limbaugh of? He was controversial and had way different viewpoints than you, but to slander somebody as you do, based on that seems really fvcked up. I couldn't stand him either but [Bleeeeep!]
When Todd passes, i should come here, bash on him and say what a pos he is. Just because we see things different. But i wont.
Evo has a good point, no point in spitting on the grave... It's funny how hate and division are so often driven when one doesn't follow another's agenda.
Famous line from Rodney Carrington, "when I die, I wanna look dead".. I think Rush lived up to that statement. He lived it to the fullest and stood tall and proud no matter his position. Whether it's the left or right, it's all about the riches...
It's not shocking that a total piece of garbage like Rush would need to pay for sex, nor is it shocking that someone so morbidly obese and hopped up on drugs would need Viagra for fukking teenage prostitutes...is it?
These are viewpoints.
He's a drug addict who spent years ripping on drug addicts.
He's a felon who twice committed prescription fraud.
He's a pedophile.
Maybe where you come from those are "different viewpoints"...where I come from, he's dogshit.
That's in addition to his bigotry, hate, and lying. I guess you can decide if you like those viewpoints or not.
Unless you are dead, quit fagging out this thread.

That means you too, JFK Jr.

No he doesn't, Rush's schtick was hate, he was the original radio hate jockey and did more harm to America than good, I don't see it being a problem to point that out. His zombies may see it differently... but that doesn't make it a good point.

Rush Limbaugh said that drug addicts should be sentenced to death. It was later revealed that Limbaugh himself was addicted to drugs. Ordinarily I wouldn't make jokes about someone dying just because we differed on political issues, but I'll make an exception for the bigot Limbaugh. Limbaugh was loved by a gullible audience that took his news entertainment as facts because, well, because they were gullible. Limbaugh sold hate as his stock in trade, and sold it very well. By any objective measure, Limbaugh was a piece of sh!t. And while I wouldn't wish any form of cancer on anyone, it's hard to be sad about a POS like Limbaugh dying. Who's to say it isn't Karma that Limbaugh got the just sentence he himself advocated for drug addicts?
Devastated Underage Dominican Prostitutes Left Out Of Limbaugh’s Will
SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC — In a shocking blow to the country, it is rumored that Rush Limbaugh’s will left out his favorite Dominican past time: Underage prostitutes.
Victoria Smelling, a leading black market travel agent, had been dealing with Limbaugh for a number of years.
“I had a minimal amount of dealings with him prior to his moving to Palm Beach in the mid 90’s,” Smelling told a local Florida newspaper yesterday, “but once he established his ‘Southern Command,’ there was no keeping him off the island.”
It’s been long-known that the Dominican Republic has been a sex tourist hot spot, and Rush Limbaugh was the VIP of all visitors. And it didn’t go unnoticed. According to previously unreleased state financial records, Limbaugh’s spending while on the island, mainly on food and child prostitutes, made up roughly 35% of the country’s struggling economy.
But after his last arrest, Rush had stayed close to home, focusing his energy on [Bleeeeep!] the country, and not underage boys and girls in the Caribbean. And with that, the promises he made to the country’s youth will go by the wayside.
Said Smelling, “Not including underage prostitutes in his will is classic Rush. He was always full of pain pills and Viagra. Makes sense he would be full of [Bleeeeep!] as well. I’d say he found one more way to stiff them, but he never was able to do that without lots of help from the little blue pills anyway.”
It’s not just Dominican prostitutes that could suffer financial burdens in the wake of Limbaugh’s resuming room temperature. As we reported just this morning, a Florida man who dealt illicitly obtained pharmaceuticals to Limbaugh for years told us he will struggle to pay his bills now that Rush is dead. Though, he did mention he has the potential to replace his Limbaugh-funded drug sales with another customer’s particular pill addiction.
“I’VE BEEN ABLE TO DIVERSIFY RECENTLY. WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP MOVING PERMANENTLY TO MAR-A-LAGO, I’VE WEASELED MY WAY INTO THE ADDERALL GAME,” CRABTREE ANNOUNCED. “I CAN’T COMPLAIN. IT’S VERY HIT OR MISS WITH DONNIE RIGHT NOW, BUT WHEN I GET THAT CALL FROM DON JR, I KNOW I’LL BE EATING GOOD FOR A DAY OR TWO.” (NRN)
Asked how she sees the future of the country, Smelling told us that the Dominican Republic “survived hurricanes and worse.”
“Our children will heal. Our economy will bounce back,” Smelling is confident. “We will leave a lasting legacy. Rush, on the other hand? Well, he leaves behind a legacy; just probably not one his listeners will ever embrace.”
I think Seattle U was runner up to Kansas in the finals in 57.....Elgin had to sit out a year after transfer, and he took my 6'5" Dad to the cleaners when Elgin first hit the hardwood at SU in '56. From all accounts, Elgin was a wonderful human being, RIP.
Edit: you're right Steelheadman, I forgot Elgin played 2 yrs at SU, good article here:
G. Gordon Liddy former Nixon aid and Watergate Co-conspirator.
Kinda in the way that Trump thinks he is a Mafioso Don, and his family is the Cosa Nostra...only actually a two bit conman and a family of two bit criminals...Liddy was just about the most incompetent "master spy" ever to pretend to be a player.
His incompetence led to the eventual resignation of Richard Nixon, because Liddy couldn't even plan a burglary or plant a bug without fuckin it up, royally.
This, of course, made him a perfect right wing talking head, because bungling felons always find a home there lol.
He was an interesting character, at least, for a failed criminal.
SMOKIN'!! Wow...I'm getting old! Seems like yesterday she was makin' headlines for kickin' the [Bleeeeep!] out of her husband with her shoes, while they were driving away from a baseball game he had just pitched in, Steve Findley maybe?
Marv's shop will take a lot of time and knowledge to unravel without him there to direct...I don't think there's a thing in the world he couldn't have built in it.
He also had some interesting struggles with the neighbor recently.
He told me all about that situation. We should tell what we know about those events. It's about Red Flag I would say, and how close we gun owners are to the jagged edge, whether we know it or not.
used to write for Richard Pryor and was on the Chappelle show a lot...
Bummer - he was a legend. Nobody could make an audience of white people nervous and uncomfortable any quicker. He made Malcolm X look like Bryant Gumbel.
One of my very young coworkers in India died of Covid related complications today. Not a famous guy but the situation in India right now is dead serious.
Just read that Taiwan may be next. They controlled their borders very well until they went from 14 day to 3 day quarantine, primarily to accommodate air crews. Covid spreading now and, since they were essentially C-free, they are way, way behind on vaccine.
If you have Instagram I'd encourage you to check his page out. The hypocrisy and anger of these people after he expressed his opinion in his shop is unmatched. It's next level angry young white people. It's both incredibly frustrating and humorous. Our country is doomed.

It should be noted that fishing guide Dan Bailey, who angrily confronted Tucker Carlson for being the douche that he is at the Dan Bailey outdoor store in Livingston, MT, is no relation to the Dan Bailey who founded the store and whose name the store is still known by. It's just a coincidence that the guy who confronted Carlson happens to share the same name as the namesake of the famous Dan Bailey Fly Shop.
A whole bunch of trump-loving antivaxxer morons like these:
- LA man who mocked Covid-19 vaccines dies of virus - Texas man who died from COVID-19 after calling vaccines 'poison' - Lots of dead morons who listend to tucker cuntface - The 99% of all recent Covid deaths who were unvaccinated...muh freedoms. - All those other antivaxxer idiots who begged for the vaccine while on their death beds....oops, too late.

2Many use to contribute more quality content than most if not all in the last 10 years. It's a real shame what the media and politics have done to us. Dudes like him are why these boards exist. And Stam, I have a shrine and a jar I cum in for Stam. It's a big jar.
I'm sure he's just counting his pile of 401(k) money as the DOW continues to set daily records...I mean, that was his four year justification for gargling Former Guy's wrinkly sack, right?
Ronco's Ron Popeil dead at 86 years of age. Inventor and hawker of many well-known products such as the Pocket Fisherman and the Veg-O-Matic slicer and dicer. I hope this song by "Weird Al" is played at his wake...
