1. Mazda 616 (early 70's, not rotary.
2. 73' Chevy Vega, that my bud and I drove to Mexico with no spare and fix a flat in two tires.
3. 1970 Chevelle....POS 305CI.
4. Came back from King Crab fishing in Alaska and bought a cherry Alfa Romeo GTV Sprint Veloce.....fast and fun!
5. 1978 Toyota Corolla HB.
6. 1988 Honda Prelude, fun car to drive for a front wheel drive car.

9. 1965 Chevelle Malibu 283 Power glide..18k miles when I bought it.Selling that one haunts me to no end. I bought it for 4300.00 in 95' and sold it four years later for 8500.00

4.2004 KLR 650 that I still own and ride mainly on dirt roads/trails.

1994 Land Rover Defender 90. Manual 5.0L V8 Perm4x4, 90" base with Detroit lockers, OM Emu shocks, ARB winch - bull bar - full upper rack - lights. Soft / full hard top, bright red. Best stock 4x4 ever built - by far. The lugs were the size of a large walnut. Had it for over a decade as an investment. Sold it to refi my house. It's worth a gosh darn fortune now. $100K plus easily. It was a nightmare to own (Lucas electronics) but oh so sweet when running. I could literally drive over anything.

The first was a home conversion of a 1920s or 30s Ford flat bed, flat head, with the fuel tank in front of the dash board, with brakes that mostly didn't work. I was 14 and bought it for $15 to drive around the farm, as it wasn't and couldn't be licensed. Then in succession came:

1955 Chevy street dragster purchased from teenage shade tree mechanic, a mistake I never repeated;
1959 Chevy, not classy, but reliable;
1970 VW, even less class, but more reliable;
1956 GMC pickup;
1976 Dodge pickup;
1980 Datsun pickup;
1979 VW Vanagon;
1982 Puegeot;
1989 Dodge Grand Caravan - great soccer mom and camping rig;

My daily drivers have all been $3,000 or less, Volvo 850, Honda Civic, Honda Accord coupe, and Honda Accord. Usually get 3 years out of them, sell them for half of what I got them for, and move on.

First car was a 1973 Buick Century that my Dad bought out of a wrecking yard for $400. it was a pile and then I drove it into a telephone pole.

1973 Mercury Capri-smoked so bad and there was so much blow by, it would blow the oil cap off during start up.

When I rebuilt the top end of my Alfa, the exhaust valves were 60 dollars a piece They were sodium filled, the intake valves were about 10 dollars. Finished up, torqued the head gasket, damn near finished, then dropped a nut in one of the the spark plug holes. Had to buy a new head gasket and finished the next day. That sports car held 12 quarts of oil, at 50mph it had half of it's HP left, in 5th gear I would blow past V8'S on the freeway. Loved those dual Weber 40's side draft carbs...I had dozens of notes left on my car of people wanting to purchase it.
