Wake me when they make the play-offs again.
Are we on year 17 or 18 of a rebuild?
Would gladly trade them away and get the Sonics back.

Who cares where they finish. It's baseball. Used to root for the Bay City Boys until I got tired of the June Swoon. M's making the playoffs would be the cherry on the sundae, but I already have the sundae.

This is where Stamly chimes in with his annual "I've got more important things to do than care about the M's" speech. I used to snicker a bit, but he has more than a solid point. Calling it now....they finish 3 games below .500 (again).

I'll try to get my care level up a bit, but it's gonna be tough.

It makes no difference to me, I'm not sure if I've watched a game since they made the playoffs.

No interest at all.

That sad little Chunk still reads the dark side, she just doesn’t post anymore.

I'm pretty sure that the whole point of playing any professional sport is to win the games, so I think the answer here is :

Sounds like you need to be a little more careful. smile

The point of playing the game is to win, at any level. The point of watching the game is to enjoy the experiance. (for me).

And it seems to me that many pros would rather accumulate statistics, do fancy dance moves, and such rather than whatever it takes to win.

Bunch of fairweather fans. Giants beat the scrub Dodgers today in their yard. Panik went deep on Chokeshaw. I will follow every game.

Now the Giants are a dynasty, that has a chance every year to go to the world series. Never could stand the Dodgers for some reason.

Re: Opening day! - 03/30/18 06:26 AM

My dad was very involved in sports, he announced live at most professional sports in Seattle for a long time, baseball, hockey, basketball, etc, or he would officiate, was the president of the Babe Ruth baseball league, etc.

We had season tickets to everything, I rarely went to any games, and right now I would pay the face value of a ticket to not attend a game in any sport.

Babe Ruth's wife would attend the Babe Ruth World Series, so we would entertain her during the two week event. His nephew was a little older than me, but we were together the entire time, I don't think he liked baseball much either, the subject never came up.

The Seattle Mariners and their fans giddy with the team's Opening Day victory and exhausted from celebrating the undefeated season are taking a day off. Meanwhile, the top ranked UW softball team follows up last night's 8-1 win over Stanford with a second game today (PAC-12 Net@7:00 pm). The Huskies' record is 33-2, with the season's only losses coming at Arizona State University. The PAC-12 has five softball teams nationally ranked eleventh, or better. Tough crowd, but clearly the DAWGS are a Sol Duc dynasty.

Go Mariners!*

*one cheek on the bandwagon...the other hovering precariously close to the pavement. Fun game to watch last night. Hope my lawn turns brown before the Mariners do, this year.

Not really, I took up fishing, camping and racing motorcycles. We lived on the water on Camano island, had a few boats, fished most every day, or I was racing. Back when there were no closed seasons and there were fish.

I found out I liked doing far more than watching.

I read it both ways, wasn't sure, so I answered that way.

I just don't understand sports hype that well.
