But damn does the bay area know how to cultivate a winning culture in sports here? Cool to see the 9era in the SB again.

Re: Not a football fan - 01/20/20 12:35 AM

Sure saw a lot of psyched fans in the stands and after seeing some close ups of excited 12-yr-olds I couldn't hate on the 49ers anymore - at least through the end of this season.

Heck of a running game and I wish we (Hawks) had their O-line!

Re: Not a football fan - 01/20/20 09:53 AM

Should be a good SB.
I really like how SF uses the FB in their run game and the speed of their backs.
That Samuels kid looks beefy for a receiver, but runs like a back when he has the ball.

You'll have the two best TE's in the game on the same field, KC's speed versus SF defense and a dude that can make some crazy throws and score some points quick.

Why can't folks simply enjoy the game. Who cares who wins? I'd like to see a reasonably high scoring game accompanied by good defensive plays.

That's nice. You know what I'd like to see? I'd like to see the 9ers' buses all get in a cascading fender bender on the way to the stadium. Now, now, wait a sec. I don't want anyone to get seriously injured but maybe they can all stub their toes in the crash and get ingrown toenails. Or hemorrhoids...yeah yeah, that's it. I hope they all get super painful hemorrhoids and ingrown toenails right before the game.

I fuking HATE the 49ers and Seattle (NFL in general). And I hate the commute and coworkers talking about the 49ers. that said, because of oafster, I will be going for SF in the super bowl. go 9ers! get fuked jake.

Re: Not a football fan - 01/20/20 06:38 PM

How do you hate NFL football?

I can get hating a team, but hating pro football is what fuckin' commies do.

The Super Bowl is still the biggest single sporting event in the world, and I love the Super Bowl Sunday routine of going fishing, coming home, getting buzzed up, and eating some fantastic food while watching the last game of the NFL season.

Hating that is dumb.

I guess the refs determining the outcome. It’s a very cliche answer, I know, but ever since the tuck rule I’ve been bitter/annoyed ever since.

’ll rephrase it, love love college football and like nfl up until the conclusion of wild card weekend. After that’s it’s not fun anymore. I’ll be fishing all day on super bowl Sunday.

Re: Not a football fan - 01/21/20 08:29 AM

I would disagree that the Stupor Bowl is the single biggest sporting event in the world. The Men's soccer World Cup is certainly larger; heck the SB probably would follow behind the Women's WC. And then there's the Olympics..

Re: Not a football fan - 01/21/20 02:13 PM

Soccer is not a sport and those other countries which are "good" at it are not America. Doesn't count. What does count is that the SB is the World Championship, even though no other countries even play it. Again because America. As Americans, what we want and say are the only things that matter.

Golden State Warriors down season. At least Steph Curry showed in Pullman to honour Klay Thompson.

The SF bay area is the champion of pocket pool. Hank's right fist is twice the size of his left hand.

I'll watch the SB being a NFL fan. San Fran has a pretty good team and so does KC.

Our son in law's family are big 9ers fans. Good luck and may the best team win.

Going to watch some of the college and NFL all star teams play this weekend.

Except Nick, among Americans under age 45, a lot more have played soccer (futbol) than have played football. So for an un-American un-sport, it sure is popular with a lot of Americans. 'Splain that smarty pants.

Those aren't Real 'Muricans, Salmo. They're all immigrants, or children of immigrants, who didn't assimilate into the Borg (I mean Real 'Muricans). All should be deported back to where they belong.

You guys are so dang easy. It's like trolling for stocker Bluegills up in here. moose

Salmo - the easy answer is because real American football requires true talent & skill plus good genetics (size and speed). Most little kids lack those things, so they have no choice but to play footy. Footy also requires minimal equipment, so the start up costs are low and more approachable for the poor, huddled masses (hence it's popularity).

BTW - I played both. And baseball. And wrestling. And basketball. I wasn't very good at wrestling. Too tall and lanky. I mostly did it to keep in shape over winter for spring baseball.

Footy is fine I guess, but red blooded Hand Egg is where it's at.

What do you think I'm Roy Evo Hobbs here? No way was I that good! But I could throw from the fence to home on occasion, which is why I no longer have a functioning rotator cuff. I couldn't throw 20 feet now without my arm basically falling off.

You’re saying Dwatkins played soccer exclusively?

Not exclusively. He also lettered in doubles leapfrog.
