Snoqualmie report - 12/30/02 10:11 PM

Hi all! Was lucky enough to get in front of 2 steelies today on the Snoqualmie. Lucky is the least to say as the river appears empty of fish. Was curious if anyone did any good on the Snoq. today? Water is starting to color up some and looks like it was coming up a bit.

Silver Hilton was that you I saw today at the Fall City launch? That was my trailer with the flat tire, punched a hole in the sidewall on a rock at the bottom of the launch in the water beathead , didn't start out to well but ended pretty good. beer

Take care all

I fished it yesterday morning around Carnation, I didn't touch a fish (except for one of those pulls either from the current or a fish taking my bait, didn't get that feeling on many more casts in the same spot, so I have my doubts). The river had excellent color even as low as it was, I thought it was perfect except for the lack of fish. Maybe next time.

Doubletake,

I fished Plums from 6AM to noon today, only boat up there. Never touched a fish and neither did the bankies. The river was rising though, so maybe tomorrow and Wed. will be a whole different situation. Sorry to hear about your trailer tire. frown Congrats on the two nice fishies ya got today. banana banana

Re: Snoqualmie report - 12/31/02 12:54 AM

I'm thinking of heading up to big eddy tomorrow, last time was dec. 1 and it was pretty dead then. Know of at least one guy doing well on Tokul, he has punched 25 so far this year. I have no idea how much time he has spent to get those...? I only fish the creek as a last resort, that constant casting just wears me out. I like to do the bobber & jig, at least it gives me a miniute or so between casts. I'll report if I strike silver...... laugh

I wouldn't put in at Big Eddy, the only fish being taken are around the Wallace. I would suggest that you try Sultan to Monroe.

But seriously, the Sky is so slow, that I am staying home to tie flies.

Re: Snoqualmie report - 12/31/02 01:02 PM

I was there on Saturday and was tossing bobber / jig at th mouth of the Tokul. There was one guy on the Tokul I saw fight and loose a fish and than hook on to another. When he was ready to land it he fell in and lost the fish. It looked like a small summer from where I was standing and it was pretty dark. But across from me in the Big Eddy I saw a guy hook and loose and another guy land a nice chromer. Plus on the other side of the river I saw a guy hook and loose.

I drove down to the boat ramp and fished there for awhile. I hooked in to a fish for just enough time to say fish on and release. Boy thats frustrating when you're out there all day mad , but hey thats winter fishing.

Fish On,

Fished all day the 31st from my boat. Plums on down. There was a bit of color but very fishable. Nadda. Not even a bite, I guess the WDFW has finially done it. lowered the plants so low they are almost all gone. El nino B.S.!!! There are some rivers doing well and some not. It seems the only management techniques they know is cut fishing opportunies by closing rivers and then cut down on hatcherys. The monies we spend on our licences go fore increased staff for the government officals.

RB -
Wondering where you got the information about the number of winter steelhead being planted in the Snoqualmie being cut?

The information that I have recieved is that the Snoqualmie smolt plants (2001) were average (perhaps a tad above). If my information is correct and poor marine survival isn't the problem as you suggest then maybe
the problem is the skill of the anglers - LOL!!

Fished below fall city today from 7 to 9am and nothing for me either (besides a nasty chum). Saw 4 other guys and one boat and no one else had touched a fish.

Hey PhishPhreak was that you fishing just upstream from the flag pole casting spinners? I was there at that time too,I was the guy fishin bobber/pink worm. Only heard from some guys in a sled at Carnation that got skunked too seen one caught by a bank fisherman there.

Re: Snoqualmie report - 01/02/03 12:19 PM

I was down along Neal Rd. Fishing a float and Jig tipped w/ prawn and later switched to a spoon.

To be honest, I'm not too upset about the crappy run so far. I probably won't be able to fish more than 1 more time this winter, so at least I won't feel like I'm missing out on all the action.

We are expecting out 3rd baby any day now...

DoubleT,

Wasn't me, have been over at Leavenworth with the kids. Beautiful - we got 18inches of snow yesterday.

Will be out over the next couple of days, when the water clears. If they don't come on this push of water, it'll be looking grim...
