Too many Dawgs at PP to talk Apple Cup? - 11/19/03 01:01 PM

I read on another BB that there are too many Huskies here at PP to talk Apple Cup.

Silly Coogs............they're all over talking about the big Apple Cup win, before the game's been played. slap

We could always talk about the last Coog AC win..........but I don't know if anyone can remember that far back. laugh

Bring your roses to the game again, though. There might not be any bottles to throw after the game. banana

As a dawg myself, I'm thinking Barbara Hedges oughta step in on special teams for this game. The way she can dodge and weave, not to mention take a lickin' and keep on tickin', she might be our only ace in the hole. It's been tough enough with a Duck daughter these last few years, so you'll have to excuse me for not pulling my tail from between my legs to shake it in a Coogs face. sleep

Good call Dan. I think after last year's mighty bad rendition of "Cougin it", the kitties are a little gun shy. Our boys may be quitters this year, but they can still play ball. Not sure I would notch this one up yet. 6 straight has a nice ring to it plus keeping 'the Streak' of non losing seasons alive.

Where's Rapid Robert at? Usually he's good for a little smack chat by now with that purdy coug boat he drives... laugh

Keep in mind if the cougs do not win they still go to the holiday bowl. However, if the dumb dogs win they still don't get to go to a bowl game, because they had that ****ty of a season.

Gilby: "We have a lack of talent, To much turmoil last summer, This is not my ideal situation " the excuses are on the table all the players have to do is go out and play to his expectation now for them to be real.

Re: Too many Dawgs at PP to talk Apple Cup? - 11/19/03 10:42 PM

Gotta love how some cougs want to already look 'down the road' for the dawg's future. Their so used to using the saying "maybe next year" that the present isn't really deep in their thought process (now that is an oxymoron, coug + thought process). I would say with 9 starting seniors on your D, you better focus on this year and hope your overrated team can get it done. They say never bet against a streak, something to keep in mind. Something seems to be missing without a prostituting drunkard running one team and a cheating gambler running the other, it just doesn't have that non-wholesome flair to it.

Wonder what Mike and Rick will be doing Saturday? Probably chillin at the Riverboat Casino throwin a couple down... beer

The important thing to focus on is that when the cougars win the huskies are going to end the season under .500. How embarassing is that. How bad did they lose their last two games? Nevermind you can't count that high with out taking off your shoes. beer

laugh Too funny!

The Cougs are good this year.....no doubt. Their defensive unit is ranked at or near the top of the Pac-10 standings.

But the Dawgs just seem to get up for this game. The Cougs should have shellacked UW last year.....in Pullman.........contending for the NC.......ranked #3 in the polls.........but they didn't. UW came out and played the way their fans had hoped they'd play all season.

And again, the Huskies have played way below expectations and the Cougs have exceeded expectations this season. A few weeks this season, the Dawgs have played without any heart, without any desire...........something I've never seen out of a Husky team before. Getting beat is one thing, giving up is another. You're gonna get beat...........some game somewhere, you're gonna lose. But you don't give up.

I'm just hoping there's a few seniors on this Husky team that realize that it's up to them to step up and own their home turf. The Cougs WILL dance on our "W" if they win.......and they should. It's time to keep purple on our "W" and send the Crimson and Gray packing to 520.

Here's to a battle...........the team that wants it most, wins it and deserves it.

GO HUSKIES !!

(Seattle WA) -- The Washington Husky football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field. The coaching staff immediately suspended practice and called the police and federal investigators. After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to players was the GOAL LINE. Practice resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.

Stanbeck? Option? Maybe the Dawgs turn into a Nebraska. If you've paid any attention to division 1 football you've seen how well that works in todays game. It's funny how Huskies feel sorry for the poor little Cougs when they have a bad season but the Coug fans can't stand the Huskies no matter how the Huskies fare. I hate to have to stand up for Mike Price but if you compare him to Slick Rick I'd take him on my side any day. All Mike did was turn around a struggling football team, play some golf, have a few beers and take a woman home to his hotel room. Slick Rick broke several NCAA regulations, ruined a good football program and jumped into bed with Barbara Hedges. I'll stick with Mike and the Cougs.

Re: Too many Dawgs at PP to talk Apple Cup? - 11/20/03 02:00 AM

Sorry Steelheadman, Don James Never Cheated!!! Just goes to show how little knowledge and class you coug fans do have. There were players and agents that took illegal loans. Don James has won more games then the last 5 cougar coaches put together and if your Boss failed to back you up you would quit too!!

Fire Barbra Hedges, she is the true reason for the pitfalls of the program right now. Give Gilby a year or two and we will be back in the thick of it again. In fact Cougar Fans answer this one, why did standout quarterback Karl Bonnell leave the Cougs to Join the Dawgs?
The Cougs should win, They have a great club with a ton of seniors, but most likely they will choke again. Guesser never beat the dawgs and most likely Kegel won't either.
So you guys will get to make another trip to Pasedena and visit Neverland but most likely wont win there either, to bad.
Looks like the only Northwest school that can win The Rose Bowl is the U.W.
Looks like we need to make the trip next year.

Good one P martin, I believe Bonnell is at number 3 on the depth chart, but has a chance to move up in spring ball. That is great the Cougs stole one from Oregon!!!
I would like the to see the Rose bowl come down to the apple cup game every year. I think it would be great if both of the Wa. schools were in the hunt and the winner of the apple cup went to Pasedena, that would make this game so huge every year that maybe the rest of the country would pay attention to it. When I was in Florida last year during bowl season no one had ever heard of the rivalry between the two schools or heard of the Apple cup.
Pretty sad.

You guys have a great club, so enjoy it while you can because you do have 9 seniors on your starting D leaving.

By looking at the attendance at last weeks' game the bandwagon apparently has a lot of room. The #8 team in the world couldn't fill the seats in their own staidium, good bye seniors, thanks.

They boo keggel , played music and videos while a wounded Sun Devil lay paralized on the field, and leave early. Winning is one thing , but winning with class is yet another and it will never happen in cooger nation. beer

Pooh-dub may be the only "so called" university around who's compliance officer gamble...I mean WTF?!
Maybe all those nose up puppies aren't as smart as they think they are!

I'm not saying that the Cougs are all that smart, but then again, we don't claim to be.

A little analogy for ya:
Remember Happy Gilmore?
The Cougs are Happy, the fun loving guy that everyone likes and enjoys being around...while the Fuskies are Shooter McGavin, that just dick of a guy you wanna punch in the face everytime you see him!

as the powers that once were fade into oblivion and a fresh new guard emerges.

Allthough, despite the all the whimpering from the pups is fun to watch and I love to revell in their demise, I hate seeing the look on Gilby's face during the games...I have to say that both schools now have coaches that parents of players should be comfortable with in that they are decent individuals and seem to be good role models...nothing but positives for both schools and the state in general.

Ahh, yes. "Joe the Toe" Jarzynca.........did anyone ever tell that guy he could call a fair catch?

Shoot, you could have put that guy in at defensive end and he'd have made plays.

Maybe Joe could give the Dawgs a pregame pep talk..........or at least check for a pulse. We need his attitude on the field for this game.

Re: Too many Dawgs at PP to talk Apple Cup? - 11/20/03 05:31 PM

Yeah, Joe RULED! That was one crazy dude, but made the games very enjoyable to watch!

I do recall that our field-goal unit was SOOO bad that most of the 70+ thousand fans were shouting for the Dawgs to go for it on EVERY 4th down..regardless of where they were on the field.

Heck, I believe we lost out on the Rose Bowl that year because of a missed field goal.

Ugh - speaking of nightmares at Husky Stadium...the worse game I ever saw there was when the #2 Dawgs faced off against the #456 UCLA Bruins. Was a shoe in victory for the Dawgs and would have put us at t he #1 spot in the nation (how many times has that happened to the Cougs - being #1 in the Nation, that is)? #1 Notre Dame had just lost by 3:00 pm. As it turned out, we lost that game and lost our bid at a National Championship that year (I think we won it the next year, though). I think we ended up #3 in the Nation.

One of the best games was a 44-0 AssStomping against USC. All Todd "I'm way too stoned" Marijuanavich told the papers after the game was "All I saw was purple jerseys and blue sky all day from me being on the ground" We sacked him like 8 times that day! Oooo!

Can't say that I've had a "best" game at Martin Stadium, as it's kinda like visitin my old High School. Boy, that place is a DISGRACE to the Pac-10.

I can say, however, that the WORSE game I've been to at Martin Stadium was a SnowBowl Apple Cup where we ended up losing. Man, it was cold, snowy, wet, and the fans truly sucked donkey-balls. Some of the most classless folks I've EVER run in to at any collegiate football game. The best part was all the Cooogs were so happy that they wont the Apple Cup and were going to the Copper Bowl.

Funny, as all the Dawg fans leaving the stadium still had smiles on their faces because we were heading to the Rose Bowl (again)...for the 3rd straight year. laugh

Man, I don't know who I hate worse, the University of Spoiled Children, or the Cooogs. I'd hate OryGun, but no respectul Dawg fan actually *cares* about them. wink Funny how the Dawgs is OryGun's BIG game every year.

Will be interesting to see how each team is doing in 5 years, after Dooby and Gilly have had some recruits. Saturday's teams are still left-overs from Pricey and The Weasel.

Win or lose at Apple Cup, I'll be back for more abuse next year.

Look for me at the game. I'll be wearing Purple. wink

Thats ashame that the Cougs when they have a good team can't even fill there own Stadium. What gives there, just goes to show that there are very few real cougar fans.
It will be interesting to see where both programs are in 4 years with the guys getting to hire there own Staff and recruit there or Players. I think Dooby is a good guy, and actually brings a Little class to that school, like I said a little!!
Ans I think Gilby when he gets his guys will do well as well, how can he not, Most blue chippers in the west do want to Come to the U.W.

Pullmans population is 24,000....of those 19,000 are students.

3/4 of Wazzu's alumni live in western washington, a 10 hour round trip drive to any home game.....longer when the passes were bad, like last weekend.

So Joe, you can tell me that Huskie stadium would be full if 3/4's of your alum had to drive 10 hours to each home game?.......maybe but I think not. laugh

Ok grandpa you started it.

The UW football team was placed in a remedial English class. The
professor asked the class, "Does anyone know what comes after a sentence?"
All of the players raised their hands.
"The appeal," they shouted with pride.

Q: Why do Husky football players have such small steering wheels in their cars?
A: So they can drive with handcuffs on.

Q: Did you hear about the new Husky Honor System?
A: Yes, Your Honor, No Your Honor

Thought this might be appropriate this year

You know this got me thinkin ...

In my fisheries classes at UW, the prof once told us that measurements that biologists took weren't always universal.

We all were a little puzzled until he showed us this slide and explained that this was taken during a WSU field trip to collect data on some of the few pike that exist over there ...

This was in the PI. A great schdule for all you from probation nation!

Guilt washes over me on rare occasions, and this is one of them. If Huskies fans want to ease the pain, it's helpful to know what to expect and how to act. The Go 2 Guy's Apple Cup day planner is specially designed for them:

Saturday

6:45 a.m. -- You see Cody Pickett riddle the Coug secondary, throwing his fifth touchdown pass to Reggie Williams. You see Gilby smiling. You see a sober Coug. You stand and cheer and look at the scoreboard: Washington 41, WSU 6. Your alarm goes off.

8 a.m. -- Drink first Bloody Mary and make it a double. Play "Bow Down to Washington" on your CD player, hoping you will hear it later.

9 a.m. -- Read Ted Miller's story in P-I to find out if Huskies are going to lose by three touchdowns or four touchdowns. Play "Tequila" on your CD player, hoping you will hear it later.

11:33 a.m. -- Listen to Huskies great Hugh Millen on KJR's pregame show and thank the football gods your 40th birthday won't be ruined today.

Noon -- Arrive at Husky Stadium on your Chris-Craft. Fire off siren from boat and finally get a grip, knowing you won't hear it later.

12:30 p.m. -- Drink first glass of chardonnay.

1:15 p.m. -- Think about how cool it would be to defend your Northwest Championship.

1:16 p.m. -- Realize the booze is kicking in if you think that will actually happen.

1:30 p.m. -- Privately wish Neuheisel was still in charge because he's 4-0 against the Cougars. But don't tell anyone. Bad-mouth his recruits instead.

1:45 p.m. -- Sample the braised lamb, commiserate with fellow tailgaters, make conversation by asking if the players have quit on Gilby.

1:46 p.m. -- Receive answer from fellow tailgaters: "Of course they have, you idiot! What a stupid question."

2:01 p.m. -- Daydream about somehow beating the Cougars, keeping that bogus non-losing streak intact and sneaking through the back door to the Las Vegas Bowl.

2:02 p.m. -- Realize that you're really hammered now.

2:12 p.m. -- Notice drunken, belligerent Coug fans making fools of themselves two tailgates over.

2:13 p.m. -- Eliminate redundancies. Notice Coug fans two tailgates over.

2:48 p.m. -- Rehash losses to Nevada, Arizona and Cal. Wonder how in the world Dave Samek of dawgman.com could have forecast a 12-0 season for your sorry squad.

3:03 p.m. -- Tell yourself, what the hell, it's going to be ugly, might as well have another. Down 13th glass of chardonnay.

3:25 p.m. -- Enter stadium with purple-and-gold sack over your head.

6:05 p.m. -- Leave stadium in third quarter with Huskies trailing 45-6. Make that 45-0 -- you forgot both field goals were blocked. Pelt taunting Coug fan with plastic bottles. Curse Cody and Gilby. Blame Hedges and Neuheisel.

7:30 p.m. -- Arrive home in Medina, Hunts Point or Laurelhurst.

7:35 p.m. -- Call postgame show to vent. Hear Dick Baird say: "Well, the kids tried hard."

7:45 p.m. -- Ponder pending lawsuits and sanctions, wonder if bowl ban will include the 2004 Silicon Valley Classic.

Monday

8 a.m. -- Cancel season tickets.

AAAAAHHHH! speaking of weopons of mass destruction!!! That face peeking out of a helmet changes everything.... I'm worried now! I think they keep her around hoping she can scare of the NCAA inspectors!

Just a heads up to the few coog "fans" that can afford tickets to the game (they aren't free at Husky Stadium like they are at Martin), they don't sell anything in bottles. So, after the coogs get their asses kicked and you want to throw stuff at our players again, you will need to bring your own ammo.

That consecutive 10 win season bit sure would be more impressive if the kitties could have taken care of business in the AC instead of doing their customary bendover move. You might have been able to avoid getting your ass kicked in the Rosebowl and instead, gotten it kicked in a NC bowl.

"Coug'd it" wasn't a phrase that was just made up. To much history for it to change now.

Dawgs 42 - 20 over the UW rejects.

No PS - not the best in the world, but for sure in the northwest.... maybe the pac ten (if UCLA shows some sack!) I know many a pup fan who were begging for 21 points today! I gave thm 13....( feeling generous.) I just hope the cougs aren't looking past the cellar of the PAC 10... To some REAL competition! :p

Re: Too many Dawgs at PP to talk Apple Cup? - 11/21/03 08:55 PM

first off elkrun i dont see why u can even consider the coogs the best team in the pac10, when they got stomped by USC, and second of all to all u big time "yay we have already won" coog fans. The game aint even been played yet. Huskies arent on no loosing AC streak either. Even the Fox Sports Net guy says the huskies have a great chance. Its the seniors last game. U dont think they are going to show up for this. I mean all we should be saying is that this is going to be a great game and we all should have a great time watching it.

Is this your first Apple Cup????

All the trash talking is what makes it fun!

"I hope its a good game....." PLEASE!

I hope its 42-0 in the 1st quarter! I'm sure a few intoxicated husky fans are hoping for the same in their favor! beer

This is WAR man! Get in a fox hole and start lobbing grenades! slap

PS: If USC loses the COUGs win... they have the best record in the PAC 10.... generally that means 1st place.... therefore the best team in the PAC 10! hello

yah really this is my first apple cup. I've been watching them since i was 3. Im prolly a bigger dawg fan than u are for ur wussy cougars. have u seen the trash i was talkin earlier in this post. Im just trying to say this is not going to be a one sided game and if u coogs think that it is. then make sure that after the huskies wake up and do a little bit of regulatin, that u dont go hide in martin stadium. i mean i dont want to see a bunch of people gettin hurt when that old peice of junk collapses.

ok this is just a clarification, im a huge dawg fan, i bleed purple, id go to every game if i could drive, (which is in 9 days), i never once said that we should all get along, cougars are my mortal enemy, the only time id show sympathy towards a cougar is if a player was injured on the feild, and one other thing to clear up my nickname thing is reynees not reyness or reyneee, its short for reynolds

The Fuskies were once again the clever conspirators behind hilarious drunken pranks, campus police reported early Sunday morning.

"Yeah, lets see, we had a smashed car window, a couple of date rapes, some drunken falls, and more than a few street brawls," said Ewe Dub Campus Sheriff Shruggy McOthercheek. "It was the funniest thing I've seen all season!"

Fusky athletes have earned a reputation as the most hilarious group of crime-oriented pranksters in the nation. Their legendary exploits were so humorous as to spawn two television shows based on the same premise. (COPS is now in its 12th year, and the show 'Jackass' became a major film release in 2002). Fusky lawyers work very closely with local prosecutors, to prevent convictions that might interfere with the athlete's performances between the lines.

"When we've really got it going," said prosecutor Norm McLetemwalk, "the press won't even hear about it. Most of the really funny stuff never makes the papers."

16 in a few days??? You're still a rookie at AC's! When you hit 20 of them, then you can bring it with some backbone!... Heck, you cant even remember the "snow bowl" with Bledsoe... seems like yesterday. Watching all them Dogs shiver in the cold, while the COUGS marched up and down the field! Thats one of my favorites! Or the RPM's... (Ruben, Porter, and Mayes) Rypien, Rosenbach, Leaf.... its all about the history!!

Man... I'm not getting ANY sleep tonight! Two more doggie streaks gone tomorrow! The only streak left will be from draggin their butts across the carpet back to the locker room after another demoralizing loss! Sweat dreams probation nation!

BOW DOWN ............ TO THE COUGS!!

hey i remember parts of the snow bowl, i dont remember names, but i remember that the big touchdown pass was meant for a different guy then the one who caught it, and heck i know who leaf and rypien are, a couple of pretty good college quarterbacks who did crap in the pros, though they did do pretty good for wazzu's standards, but i mean how bout some players who did good in the nfl brunell, kreutz, kauffman, dillon, and bruner, just to name a few

A little formula must of squirted in your eye on that play.... Or getting a diaper change. I know you've been watching Pick-it for a while, but USUALLY the guy in the same color jersey is the one that is SUPPOSED to catch it!!! I could see how you'd be confused!

eek confused eek confused

I read somewhere the Cougs lead the nation is sacks over the last 3 years..... Pick-it does so well when he's pressured too!! I'd bet out defense outscores the dogs offense!

It drives me nuts when the BCS makes a statement about the big ten being superior to the pac ten. Softer schedules etc.

And then again it is hard to get pumped up as a season ticket holder over playing WAC teams in Husky Stadium. If we wanted to watch the WAC we would live in Pullman.

DanS, Suppafly and all the other Huskies out there: Good job, you guys stepped up and beat a good team when you needed to.
I gotta give it to the Huskies, they won, fair and square.

That said...I feel like my parents just got run over, my dog died, my girl left me, I just got laid off, and got diagnosed with broken testical disease...that one hurt...ALOT

It's funny when people ask why I take the apple cup so seriously and hate the Huskies so much...I mean, if there was ever a reason, saturday was a perfect example. Nothing worse than the people you love to hate just CRUSHING all your dreams...

Congrats to the Dawgs. I know how great it is to win the AC after an up and down year.

Being Cougs we learned a long time ago it's just a game. We also learned to congratulate an opponent win or lose. But being a Coug meant being an average team mostly , some years were good some years were not so good. Most of all we learned being 6 and 6 meant you kept your cake hole shut after 24hrs even when you beat the dawgs. We also know the biggest yappers never even went to school at the UW they are just tourist to the program and usually living in some low rent subdivison in Kent.

I'm sorry I didn't get back on yesterday.... I was busy FISHING!!

I love it when the water is "out" I'm the only one fishing! I picked up an 8lb hen. It was a great way to mourn the loss.

NOW...

I love the fact the the dogs are the spoilers! Ya gotta be the bottom of the barrel to earn that title! Your program is still on the decline, with sanctions soon to come! I remember the "good old days" of husky football when WSU would play the spoiler role.... we sucked bad too!

Bottom line is this: 9-3 is a whole lot better than 6-6, ya still got hammered by cal, lost to zona, lost to Nevada, AND BARRING AN INVITE TO THE TOPEKA KANSAS BOWL, WILL BE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!!

ITS A WHOLE LOT BETTER TO BE A COUG THAN A DOG THESE DAYS!!!

Say what you need to to make yourself feel better elkrun. I understand.............

UW had a bad year......but not bad enough to lose to WSU. But hey, there's lots of teams you can live vicariously through this year. You can imagine you're a Nevada-Reno fan, or an Arizona fan, or a Cal fan.

But if you're a Coug fan............you're just an Apple Cup loooooooooo-zerrrrrrrrr. :p
