Several weeks ago when I was fishing off the Oregon Coast for kings, we caught one of those squid mentioned in the above newspaper link. It was several feet long, had tentacles over a foot and probably weighed in the mid to high teens. It grabbed a cut plug herring. We talked with a guide later that day that also caught one only he kept it and weighed it at 15 lbs. The water that trip was 62 degree's. Just returned from the same place Sunday and the water was 51 degree's.
C'mon on, guys, keep this topic at the top....the more replies, the more of you get duped! How many actually thought it was true by reading the subject heading
Summer run, did you stay up there all day or did you move to a new hole? We went downstream and got into a bunch of dogs and a few springs, not to mention another bright coho. Much more classic salmon water and much easier to land fish than up above. Ran low on superberries so I was forced to use Todd's bait. It worked ok though
Re: 5 foot Humbolt squid caught in Snohomish!!!!! - 10/23/0411:56 AM
Here is one I landed fishing off of Shipreck yesterday. I think it was headed for the River after the Hmboldt squid run. I have heard they actually spawn around the town of Skykomish according to Peg Leg McGinty.Make sure and get the giant net.
