Let's See them! - 12/23/04 01:42 AM

I have been very fortunate latley to see some very nice sunsets and sunrises. I fugure there have to be some great pictures out there especially since so many of us are up at that time chasing fish.

Here are just a few of my favorites.......

The back side of Mt. Rainier ( the sunrise is behind me)

Silently trolling for blackmouth on a December morning.

Running over schools of coho off possession.

And one of my favorites, trolling coho flys early in the AM at the baitbox.

Those are some awesome pictures, Aaron.

You've seen this already, but it's pretty. \:\)

Sky-guy's image of the rod & reel against the sunset definately wins the prize - that's a magazine cover shot if I ever saw one.

Sky-Guy - you should put that image up for sale with a stock photo agency like Corbis or Getty Images. I bet you could make a few bucks off of it!

Thanks guys! BTW it is a Sunrise over the east side of the sound.

Aaron, those shot are fantastic! What Nikon body do you have?

Re: Let's See them! - 12/23/04 12:24 PM

I've got a Nikon N70 and a Nikon D100. I got the D100 last Christmas and haven't shot a single frame with the N70 since. I keep it around just in case but I doubt that I'll ever use it again... \:\)

You?

Re: Let's See them! - 12/23/04 12:33 PM

The shots above were all taken with a Sony S85 4.1mp camera. I have a good film camera, Canon Eos Rebel with all the fixin's... I just have not yet upgraded on the digital side yet. I am leaning towards a Canon so I can use all my lenses, but really like the Nikon. My avatar pic was taken with a d70.

Sky - I've always been a Nikon man but I've often thought of making the switch to Canon; the Rebel is a great body.

The avitar shot is awesome.

rwgav8 - Nice pics.

Re: Let's See them! - 12/25/04 02:25 AM

Unfortunately there is just no way for film or dig to truly capture the totality of the sunrise/sunset beauty or the humbling granduer of the experience on the water at those fleeting moments when light is both subtle and stupendous. Yet for some crazy reason I keep trying. Here's a couple of my more recent attempts.

First is looking out to Kingston with the Olympics in the background. Hey that boat probably belongs to a Piscatorial Pursuit member. ;\)

The other is from a Canada flyfishing trip. Jerrys getting in one last cast and demonstrating fine form with his rod tip in the water while dredging a leech pattern. He was probably too intent to even notice the spectacular sunset. Yah right. Meanwhile I was scramblin' to get out of my float tube and into the boat before they left without me when I stopped long enough to grab this one. ;\)

Okay here's a couple for you from my hard drive \:\)

How 'bout some warm sun!!

Or some cold November sun at the mouth of the Quillayute:

Or to encourage you to get up off your duff like this critter and get working at sun-up, here's a busy BC beaver!

And did the moose actually hit or was he flossed?
