This was the same day. It is a little soft but I like the effect.

First of all Merry Christmas to everybody, hopefully everybody is getting all the goodies they asked for!!!! Well here are my three favorite pics.
My first day on the oly pennisula, went out there with the expectations of hooking a fish or 2 the whole week. Well first day was 5 for 5, absolutely blew my mind. Got this pretty hen, in the prolly in the low to mid-teens not a huge fish but never seen a steelhead go that insane.

my cousin his first time going for Kings. First he hooks is a dime bright fish that rips him to pieces, after that fish and the chaos that happened that evening got him hooked for life.

Some of you know this guy, but this is probably the most stand out steelhead I have witnessed caught even though I didn't catch it. We decided to take a break for a sec, so I sat down to eat something, and Joe asks to take a couple casts with my spey blank float rod conversion. He flips out, sitting there with a mouth full of popcorn and the float drops and that fish comes jumping in the air. There was my chance at a 20lb fish. The pic doesn't do justice how big it actually was but it was a beast.

Nice shot of Mt. Baker...

If you head up behind Baker Lake towards Anderson-Watson Lakes at sunrise on a clear day...you will have a phenomenal view. The sun reflecting off the mountain makes it look like it is on fire. It's breath taking.

Shane

Rise and sing O' Canada!!!!!

Some of my fave pix I have on the 'puter right now ... not all the biggest fish, nor the prettiest shots, but I'll explain each:

Fave fish in the wild shot ... not one, but two steelies jumping the Salmon Cascades on the upper 'Duc a few years ago in April:

Favorite buddy with a fish on. No action from fish nor a big bend in the rod, but the brilliant colors through a light fog are cool! Our old pal Art is quite a charcter and this picture is almost as colorful as he ... or his language when he busts one off, or falls in the mud, or slips out of the Rubber Ducky!

Favorite fishing breaktime shot. Fishgal reties her braid while the two of us fish a favorite run. The distance at which I shot her kinda puts our being into perspective in this scene.

Fave grip 'n grin. A jumbo steelie, but not a 30 lb. classer. Kids and big steelhead are always a fave in my book, but the Santa hat and the beauty of this early big buck always make me enlarge this one when going through the files on the machine.

More coming, gonna go over image limit \:\)

Re: OK lets see your favorite photos - 12/26/04 02:57 PM

Wish I had this in something other than low wesolution. It's my favorite close-up shot. The movment of the water that blurs the line where the fish ends is way neat in my book. Never have been able to recreate it with w higher res camera \:\(

Favorite double pic ... titled Dances with Steelhead in a WSC newsletter. Art chases one up on the bug rod, Corey gives chase to one going down on the gear rod. All with a little fog thrown in:

Fave dog picture ... not even my dog but a pup that came along when we went tossin bugs for an eve trip on the Kasilof last year. Not sure about the expression ... "Please come see me"? "Wait til ya see what I did to your gear bag"? Or maybe it was "What the hell are you guys doing in the water?" Pic is in a few shops across the west coast since Sage Rep took it and passed it around ... it's known best as "Bob the Babysitter" \:\)

Favorite critter pic ... lots of noise, but the dead run these elk were on surprised us all on this fall day on the Hoh. I love the color of the elk against the drabness of the clay water:

Okay, more on next one \:\)

Re: OK lets see your favorite photos - 12/26/04 03:08 PM

Favorite fall picture. Hardly a monster king, almost the size of many of our silvers. But, it is all about fall fishing on the OP: brilliant maples, lots of rain, leeches and lice!!

MISERY!!

You know what it is! At least if you've ever chased a steelhead or two! This one has it all! Bankbound, in raging snowstorm. You snag up with a moster stick that swings across the current and downstream so you have to go get your gear off it. Poor Fishgal, now I remember why she usually only goes when it is nice anymore \:\)

Oh an edit for one more!! Favorite combat fishing fishing picture, need I say more ;\)

I'll dig some more up later, gonna wash one of the rigs with the sun out!!
