left handed rifles - 11/10/04 10:20 PM

i have been looking for a LH rifle and there isn't much of a selection. a browning a-bolt is my fiirst choice, but the savage rifles are about 175 less. how does the performance compare between the two. a 7mm or 300 wsm are what I'm looking for in calibers.

I think if you buy the Browning, you'll just pay more. Savage is usually very accurate right out of the box with a good trigger. Also, for Savage consider Walmart.

I would not buy either one. I do not care for the A bolt, I got one for a gift a sold it. Savage is ok for a truck or saddle gun if you want to beat it up and not worry. Certainly not a bad gun but a roughly constructed gun re: the price. I know the WSM is all the rage but I do not care for it or the short action craze . The numbers on the WSM are similar to the factory on the 300Winmag. Which is too much gun for the state IMHO. I see no sense going for a 7MM when the .264 and the 7MM Mag are so much superior in all aspects of shooting and reloading. You can hunt and load down for Antelope and all the way up to moose. If I where you I would go witha Ruger or Winchester for the most value for the dollar. I have a friend that is a lefty. He found many options in Whetherby and settle on the .279mag. Before that he shot a Sako .264

I am biased. If you do not know there are two schools on this. One is big bore for knockdown power. The other is smaller bore for speed. I am a smaller bore guy. I would hunt .270 for any game animal in the lower 48. I would only move into the belted magnums for big Bears. I exclusively archery hunt now but I still love guns and gun talk. Have fun with the process.
