Did anyone besides me watch the President's speech? Cutting through the fluff was difficult, but as far as I can tell, the plan is to support the Shia government until the Sunni are defeated. Then we pull out.
A little background: Most Arabs are Sunni. Only in Iraq are they a minority. In Iraq the technical and professional classes are mostly Sunni. In general, Sunni in Iraq are more "modern" and secular than the Shia. The Shia, in general, follow their traditional religious leaders.
If the "plan" is followed to completion, we will have swapped a secular dictatorship for a Shia theocracy with close ties to Iran.
Is that success?
