Desolation Sound - 07/25/05 11:27 AM

Catching the 7:30AM ferry out of horseshoe bay this Sat. 30th. Headed to Powell River to charter a 42 foot sailboat. Will have a full week up in desolation Sound.

I will be bringing one shrimp pot, two crab pots, fishing rods and a landing net. Will be working out of the ridged hull infalatable.

Anybody got any info for me on areas to deploy my wares? Will also be looking for oysters and clams.

Thanks in advance.

My old boss used to take his sailboat up there every summer. He said the water was nice and warm and you could swim in the salt. He also said no fish.
He wasn't much of a fisherman though (understatement)
I'd be interested in knowing too.

There is a reason they call it Desolation Sound. Beautiful place, but as I remember it... no fish.
I was there a long time ago though.

Very good shrimping. If you see a 54' Monk SUMMERTIME II, ask Harry, i'll bet he'd tell you where and how. Or you could just shadow him.

If you like oysters; DS is the place to be. Shrimping and crabbing is ok, but fishing sucks.
