Sage 3113 MB blank - 06/20/09 12:49 AM

For sale is a Sage 3113 MB blank new, never removed from plastic package. I bought several of these at Berry's Bait in Richmond BC a few years ago. It's 11'3" and I think they are rated 8-15lb line. It's brown colored. They were popular for center pin rods in BC . $200

No this is not a fly rod. It is a center pin blank. These older brown ones were only available in Canada and have been replaced by a green colored blank. The slow action casts light gear really well and is very forgiving when using small hooks like on dicknites for salmon. I made mine into bait casters and use Corado reels on them.

The Sage link shows a line rating of 12-20 lb. and lure weight of 1 1/2-2 oz., to me that does not sound like medium action ?

Ya, I don't get those sage ratings for these rods. The 10'6" is rated 8-17 1-13/4 for a light ...whatever. When I bought these I'm pretty sure Berry's bait had them listed at 8-15 on the line. Compared to all the other rods I have used, Sage has the rating too high. I use 10lb maxima main line , 8lb leader and about half an ounce of pencil lead which works well with this rod for silvers, steehead and an occasional king or chum.
