a good eastern washington lake to fish in april???

For spring break and friend and I want to plan a trip to eastern washington for a few days to bass or walleye fish. We were thinking soda lake as he has been there before. Should the fish be active around the middle of April? Anyone have any better suggestions? we plan on camping wherever wee go.

I have heard that Sprague Lake has turned into a pretty nice walleye, bass, bluegill fishery. It used to have tons of big rainbows, but I hear those days are over. Give Sprague Lake some thought, then give us a report. Wind is an issue.

so the plan is do go to pot holes now. We will probaly camp at the state park? anyone have any experiences camping on this lake or advice about pot holes?

I have fished there a couple of times. First timers have trouble locating fish because of the size of the reservoir, various structure patterns, and what fish to target. Watch out for the wind, 3' to 4' swells with white caps. This time of year I would target trout, there are some big ones out there. Walleye are said to caught at this time of year, but I have never done well on walleyes. Might be to early for bass but you might hit one in the mouth with a jig or crank bait.
