My First Bear Pics - 09/14/04 07:02 PM

Well, let's see if this works. I've not posted pictures before.

This is my first bear, taken 9-4-04 SE of Mt. Adams in Klikaitat County. I was firing a 1951 MArlin 336 in .35 Remington, shooting 200 grain Corelokts at 75 yards, with full buckhorn rear sights. One shot. See previous post for the whole dang story.

The cart that the bear is loaded on we call our "One-Legged Mule". Next to a rifle, sharp knife and a compass, it's the best dang hunting tool you could buy.

A feller down in the Oregon City area makes them. We paid about $300 for ours at the Sportsman Show a couple of years back. We loaded and carried a big spike elk on it a couple of years ago. Can't remember the weight. The guy says that it will carry upwards of 700 lbs.

I wheeled a 2-point blacktail by myself for about 2.5 miles last year. I tell you, the thing is wonderful!

With the one tire, you can turn on a dime and go down the narrowest of trails. If you don't have one, get one!
