Uncle Jim's Musk Ox - 03/08/07 09:11 PM

I just returned from a chilly hunt out West with Jim. He drew a musk ox tag, and we found a good bull....

I hear they are fine table fare, is that true?

My business partners brother got speared through and through one ace cheek by one....

Nice. How hard is it to get drawn for a a musk ox tag? Can you get close enough for a shot with a bow?"

If you look close, here's a photo of the musk ox I killed a couple years ago...

j7, people frequently bowhunt them. I don't remember what the draw odds are, doesn't seem like they're too bad...

The meat has good flavor, but the bulls are pretty tough. Requires careful cooking...

Bro Dave, That is a sweet game room you have started. Where are the African critters you blasted?

Re: Uncle Jim's Musk Ox - 03/20/07 02:35 AM

Thanks, that's the trophy room...though most of the heads are average. Definitely need to upgrade a bunch of them, and now that we have the space, I reckon we'll get around to it. The center pic is a European mounted Sitka Blacktail. Haven't really hunted elk yet, though I'll get around to it.

Unfortunately, the African heads seem to have been lost in transit....

Here's another shot of the house...from the water...

Looks like you could make a heck of a hat out of a Musk Ox head, Fred Flinstone stand back................

Nice cabin, I bet chicks dig it.

I'm tryin' to buy Jim's ox hide now....figure to throw it on the floor in front of the fireplace, and lay pipe like the indians did on buffalo rugs....
