Best Place to Board My Dog

Best Place to Board My Dog - 08/04/10 07:38 PM

It's a long way off but this winter I will need to have Tye boarded for two weeks. Pet Smart has a thing where they guarantee him 7 hours play time and two walks a day. It comes to $43 ad ay. I don't mind that so much but would rather find a dog lover who has another dog or two and hasroom for him to play all day. I would be glad to pay a good dog person the $46 a day. Any ideas?

$46 a day is outrageous IMO.
We found "Marge" through our local vet. She charged $18 a day and Gretchen stayed at Marge's house just like she was part of the family.
Maybe with one other dog.

Keep asking around, there's a Marge up there, too.

Edit:
With the dog boarding facilities your dog is often a number.
You may not even meet the person(s) that actually care for your dog.
Done that.

That's exactly why I am looking. I really do not want to put Tye in a place like that.

Academy of Canine Behavior in Bothell.
You can get some training in while you are away as a bonus.

I haven't boarded in a long time but they were great with my old lab Cosmo.

ps. Give me the dates. If I'm in town I'd gladly watch the pooch. My 2 year old lab is very good with other dogs and I have a dog door/fenced back yard. Dogs at my house get 30 mins of ball time a day down at the park. One of those Dave Vedder rods would pay the bill :-)

pps How did the dog do with the pack?

Very generous offer. I am going to try to hold out for someone with acreage, but will have you in mind as a backup.

If we do it I would be glad to pay you the price of a Dave Vedder rod. I do not get a stock of them. I have to order from the factory.

Tye has worn his backpack twice. He is resigned to wearing it.
We do our hike Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

Dave, we may be up for watching him depending on the dates. I should have a new pup by then if everything works out (a litter of Dobies was born Aug 1st).
Let me talk it over with the woman to see if she is up for it, then lets talk dates.

FR That would be awesome. We can talk on our next fishing trip. And of course, I would be happy to return the favor.

One of my brothers and his family live in Cherry Valley in your neck of the woods and board their Rhodesian Ridgeback at Cardiff Lodge near the high school.
