Hunting Clothes - Wool?

I'll be archery hunting Nov. for the first time this year in the far NE corner of Wa. I'm looking for some wool as I don't expect to see temps above 35.

I've never liked anything I've ever purchased from Columbia gear and have found most of their stuff to be junk.

The Browning stuff looks real good but the camo is pretty dark for the open pine forest's I'll be hunting.

The Cabela's stuff is all layered and thus makes a crinkle noise.

I'm looking for simple 100% wool. I'm not interested in anything with nylon, windshear, goretex etc...... Just wool.

All my wool shirts are old Pendletons.

I have always thought the same thing about Columbia gear, especially rain coats. But I will give them props on their wool.

I know a few guys who hunt really hard all over the west. Several of them have told me that for the money that stuff is as good as any.

I have the Gallatin Wool coat. I wish it didn't have the liner, but otherwise it has held up very well. I recommend getting it one size smaller than you normally wear. It is too loose for me around my chest and I am a fairly big guy (bought a large). I prefer my hunting clothes to be tighter to my body.

The Ridgeline shirt has a bow hunting collar that is nipped a bit to keep it out of your bow string.

Not wool but Sitka Gear has worked VERY well for me. Warm and it dries so fast it's amazing.

It's not the cheapest but allows more comfort when hunting hard...climbing and then stopping to glass without the chill and added weight of wool is a plus.

i have 3 sets <pants-jacket> of bow hunting camo, also doubles for rifle elk (with orange vest of course).

i used to use pendleton and filson until i found rivers west. now thats all i use. i am overly amazed at the light weight and how water proof it is. never used the sitka stuff before.

Do you get too hot in your Rivers West? I have a jacket and it is very waterproof and very quiet, but I overheat in it. I have found that I can leave it off for the bike ride into my spot, and then put it on for still or stand hunting. That is okay, but I get the most wet on the bike ride.

I love the design of it. The 3/4 hoodie thing is a great idea, but I get too hot. Thinking about selling it.

i dont seem to have a problem overheating too much.any more than other gear i have used. we hike in, i imagine if i was biking hard i might. but i also mostly hunt the forks area and its in oct-nov. so it suits me fine. if you wanna sell your jacket and its in good shape i would be intereasted mine is about too small /worn and no hood... i do wear a wicking layer between the pants and me otherwise i found it uncomftorable at the end of a long day.
but especialy elk season we will hike in a few hours before light witch means usually sitting in a stump hole or soaking ground for a hour or so so the waterproof is unmatched in this case.

I feel the same way about Columbia BB, but I have their heavy wool pants and hooded jacket. You will roast if you are doing too much hiking. For sitting and still hunting it's perfect. Very good quality.
You can use my jacket if you want to save some coin. Don't think the pants would fit ya.

Especially that Sleeping Indian Stuff. Is it worth the price? Is it the same quality as Filson's?

I too love fleece for layering as it's light and not bulky and dries easily. However when it's below freezing I don't think anything beats wool.

I saw some of that Sleeping Indian stuff half off at the Cabela's sidewalk sale yesterday. The shirt was $329 regular.

European military surplus. Got me through a lot of cold snowy nights.
