Special draws and a quick bitching-

Just wanted to put out a reminder and a quick bitch about $13.20 per drawing. Not that I did not put in for all five but son-of-a-bitch.....It has been six years since I have drawn a damn thing. $70 bucks for drawing nothing every year is getting old. Combine that with two kids and a wife to put in for and ouch. After tags, fishing, crab, special drawings, small game......four people=almost a grand.


Why have they doubled the cost in the last couple of years and when did we as sportsman allow the WDFW to get so damn out of control with costs and fees? I hate to see the outdoors become something that less and less people can afford to do and use. What can we do about it?????

Yes.....I even watch/listen/read what I can through organizations I am part of(WSC,long live the kings,RMEF, ect) but seldom do I hear much about this. Not large amount of the time seems to be spent on this when elections come around. Any other groups taking a larger role in fighting for us as sportsmen I might not have heard of. I just see this continuing to get worse in the future and causing less and less people to use the resource. (not that less people would hurt my draw chances )

I don't feel that old but in the 20 years I have been hunting it has gone from
1. No requirement to choose a specific weapon - you could hunt archery, modern or muzzle loader seasons with a standard tag.
2. east or west side for elk, mostly any bull.
3. Most units any elk for archery / Any deer.
4. Longer seasons and archery was open during the elk rutting period.
5. Any buck for muleys and a season that went longer.

and more animals everywhere I went.

Now they are slowly opening it back up, but allowing only one or two tags for what we used to have over the counter. I have freinds that waited 10 years to hunt a unit they used to hunt as kids. they took two weeks off and never even saw a cow. some units that were open for any bull are now looking like a one in a lifetime draw. It is pretty sad that you pay the same in applications fees and wait 10 years for a tag that you could get as a non-resident over the counter in many of our nearby states.

Still pisses me off.........

Drake, Ali and myself 2 adults and one kid. just hunting lic, tags and draw apps $550 another $365 if Drake and I pay for any weapon deer and a couple hundred more for the fishing lics.
Probably 3 or 4 trips to E Wa for deer, elk and god forbid we get drawn for any special hunts.
I'm doing a SD pheasant trip and was planning on an Idaho hunt with the kids too. Ouch maybe not.
multi trips to Neah, 2 or 3 tuna runs, Week at B10 and GH. Might have an open weekend or 2 in June, early Nov and mid Dec. Thank god I didn't book AK this year.
Looks like I will stay single again this year.

Over $600 for me and the boys for all licenses, tags, and special permit draws. I feel your pain Art.

Andy if the kids draw any of the fancy tags you can take em and i'll do all the cookin this time

I feel ya, elkman.... Wish they would just post the draw results, so I can see that i didn't draw, and i can go back to planning our general hunt plans.

Yeah. Planning a week long early season Muzzy deer hunt but I cannot finalize until I know about moose/elk tags.

Not showing any points for my sheep. Fawkers. I hope that they are just testing it for glitches like that so folks with lots of points don't get aced out of the draws.

My sheep points aren't showing either, just hoping they didn't get to that catagory today.

My mountain goat and moose points are different at 13 and 9. 0 for sheep. All should be 13. Hmmmmm.

My moose and elk points disappeared. Clearly we did not all hit the lotto, so something else must be up.

Probably just testing the system so the draw is fair. (Hope)

They are stealing points from all you and giving them to there familys and neighbors first.Just sayin.....................The waiting game is getting old.Good luck,

Wdfw says that they can no longer check on results over the phone due to call volume, but they did say the vendor has fixed the issue and results should be posted after 5pm today. Just got off the phone with them a minute ago.

over 30 apps for the 3 of us and the only ones we drew were for 3 extra does and $$$ for the state.

I got blanked but the boy got a doe tag for Okonagon East. I put him in for that one because I haven't hunted that unit.

With Brent playing football it will make for a short weekend(s) but I'm excited.

Last year he got his first deer. This year hopefully it will be the first deer with the rifle I got him last Christmas :-)

took me 13 points to draw a damn cow tag, wonder how many before i draw a bull tag 13 and counting, same for quality deer for me, im just not lucky.

ML hunt for my quality deer, Modern rifle for my quality elk. I drew a Quinault bull tag in 2009, so my elk points are minimal.

Drawn for 2nd deer tag for Omak. I've never applied for a doe tag before, but thought what the heck. Max points for deer/sheep/goat...NADA again. Just booked a room for Idaho whitetail tag for T-day.

For the one i want, yes. been waiting this long why quit now, lol.

Yah it sucks. Oregon makes ya buy a lic. 141.00 to apply for elk. Drew this year finally. Took 5 years. As for wash. I didn't feel the pain this year. All the years I bought my sons stuff is paying off. While was in Ak my son bought all my stuff. Put me in the drawings, and put some kind of spell on it. I drew a cow tag, and a extra deer tag, and the bull tag in Oregon. Lucky year for me.
