Cataracts - 09/19/21 07:05 PM

In the middle of swapping out cataracts for lenses. Has naybody had this surgery and then shot (previously) sighted in guns and bows? Just curious as to how much work I may need to do. The right eye had the cataract in the center and was interfering with my peep sight on the bow. Most of my rifles have scopes, but the M94 is open sights.

Nobody gave you an answer so I'll at least give a little relevant info.

I couldn't tell any difference in how a gun was sighted in prior to the operation to after it. Now I didn't have any rifles that I had put much effort in to getting them super accurate, so it may not count.

After day one it was life as normal, only I could see perfectly without glasses and the fuzziness from the cataracts.

Thanks. I have not been that lucky but my longer range vision is pretty good and color is much brighter. Need glasses to read up close, but it has only been a week and a half on the second eye.

Reason I asked was that my dad did the scope-sighting for our rifles. Turns out that when I shot them later in life I had to aim low and left by about 6" to hit the target bullseye. So, I was slowly winding the sights in.

Didn't think it would affect shotgunning too much.

One big thing I learned is that I am really, really left eye dominant. And in most other things I am right-handed. When I wore the eye cover post surgery on the left eye more than 3/4 of my whole visual field was blurred. More than halfway across the right eye.

It has been amazing to go through but at least mine worked. My wife, who had the same surgery in the spring, actually has worse vision post surgery than pre-surgery.
