Way to go. We'll have to trade a few goose recipes. I had a hard time getting good goose recipes, but I ran into a guy who gave me several very good ones.

Well thanks! Glad you liked my honkers! The first one dropped at 8:00am, about a 40 yard shot. The next two dropped at about 9:00am, about 35 yards. That bismuth really smacks them hard. Jenna, my dog, did well on the retrieves. She is a year and a half old, pretty smart, and getting better all the time.

25 words: "Mama's steaming hot goose noodle soup poured from a metal thermos into a cup while sitting in the goose blind waiting for more soup material."

Speaking of geese, what do I need to do to prep for F-IV?

Hey Dogfish, did you get another chance at those geese for this weekend? The picture makes the necks on your birds look short so I'm guessing that they were actually lessors or tavies, they look larger than cacklers. What were they? So you liked the bismuth shot. What size? I like it also and reload sizes 2 and 4. I do a 1 1/4 oz. load in federal gold metal hulls. Great duck load. I have shot Hevi all season this year in both 4 and
6 shot. The 4 load is best for me but tomarrow I am pass shooting the late season birds and will use #2 shot for the first time. They are factory
loads and I won't reload Hevi until this summer to see what works best on paper. If I score tomarrow I will post a picture as well. Straight
Shots.

Nope, didn't get drawn this weekend. The lady at the check-in station said classic cacklers. Color, bill, etc. I bought factory loads. 3.5" 1 7/8 oz of BB. Two didn't flinch at all, they just fell dead. Broke a wing on the first. Dog chased it down.

Df, before you make them all into jerky there is one receipe you might give a try. Take a half of a goose breast and lay it flat on a cutting board,
now cut the breast so that you have two pieces only they are half as thick as the original. Place
two or three pieces of halopeno pepper on each slab. Now roll each up in a log shaped piece so the meat is wrapped around the pepper.( I use canned peppers)
Now wrap each log with thin bacon and stick a toothpick through it to keep it rolled up and in one piece. The log will be wider than one strip of bacon so do another bacon wrap next to the first one. The two wraps will cover the roll-up completely. Now BBQ the roll-up until the bacon is done. You will need to roll them over several times while cooking. Cut a bit off like you would steak. It tastes very similair to beef sirloin steak. I will never make another goose into pepperoni or jerky again. I hate the taste of goose but this is really good. I can't explain how or why the pepper changes the taste or how it tenderizes the meat but it is a "must try".
ENJOY

DOGFISH - No wonder the economy is in such tough shape. Don't you ever work, Andy? Banker's hours I bet. Nice job w/ the honkers. When are you and Paulie going to check out the wild pig hunting down toward Montessano?

Hi Traut,

I've gone on a few trips to locate the oinkers, but have yet to see any sign. They got pretty shot up last year just before deer season and then they scattered a bit. The hunting pressure drove them out of the 'nooch valley towards Matlock. Got a few loggers I know who have seen them on ocassion, but no real honey hole.

Take Care, Andy
