Bowhunting Gloves?

I have been looking for a pair of gloves to wear while Bowhunting in cold weather. I use a "shooting glove", not a release, and any glove for my shooting hand would have to be thin enough that I could still slip the leather tabs over the finger tips. I would also want to ensure that my bow hand would be able to grip the bow properly.

Any suggestions? I have been looking around and cannot seem to find anything that works.

I use those blue "atlas gloves" like you get at Home Depot when I'm hunting. As long as I'm moving they provide enough warmth, but they are VERY blue. Works great when ML hunting in the rain and snow. Should work well for a bow.

Blue can be one of the worse colors that you can wear. The animals can see it faster than anyother color. something to do with the light rays or something. I can try to find the info for you if you want. But i guess if the animal has seen you then you don't have very good odds anyways. But just something you might want to consider. As far as the gloves go just keep trying different ones. or find a cheap pair and cut out the fingers where your glove realese is, and sew some thin fabric back on the "warm glove" and then you should have a what your lookin for also. just a thought. Thanks for the response. I'll keep checking back in case anyone else has any ideas. Cutting the fingers out may be the way to go ... maybe I'll try it on a cheap pair first!

Maybe if I could just get me deer early in the season ...

Hey DJ.....have you ever thought about using a tab? I shot competition for years with fingers and your will shooting will improve with the use of one........guaranteed! Less drag on your fingers (go with the Saunders Slick Tab) and it is impervious to the weather and will not get "grooves" in the fingers like a glove will. I know they are a pain at first, but worth it. That way you can use fingerless gloves with it too--yet another bonus!

I always wear gloves when I shoot my bow, even if it 90 degrees out.
I started using batting and golf gloves a few years ago, and I love them. The sued (sp?) type seems to keep you a little warmer, but even in hot weather our bow hand will not slide on the grip from sweat. They are tight enough that they don't cause any problems getting hung-up or anything either.

P.S. I shoot a release.

djstein, I have to wonder about the idea of a blue color being bad. I don't know for sure but I recall the only two colors that are poor are white and yellow. Since deer and elk only see in black and white you can test the notion by taking a picture with an inexpensive roll of black and white film. You can't really see the difference between white and yellow as I have made this test.
Blue on the otherhand I don't know, but if dogfish hasn't had a problem why should you? Make the test. It may be the blue gloves are just fine.
