I need a stock for a pre64 Win. Mdl 70. I bot a barreled action a few years back and need to find a stock. I'm now a lefty which has made it tough to find something. would like a composite with a cheek piece if possible. Can't find anything in Cabelas. Any ideas? Thanks

I'm left -eyed and hence have to shoot the same. Most of my rifles w/ composite stocks are stocked with right-handed model stocks that I have modified for southpaw use. Generally the only thing that needs to be done is to cut out a notch for the bolt handle on the left side, and fill in the un-necessary notch on the right side(sometimes using the cut out piece to fill the hole!). Some models need a little extra work in the trigger or safety area, but I don't think this is the case w/ the Model 70. I normally just use epoxy and sometimes a little fiberglass cloth to finish up after the modifications. These rifles have been used HARD and often and have held up well. Hogue, MacMillan, Brown Precision, and I think even Ram Line and Butler Creek have left hand stocks available for most models, but they are often not listed in the major mail-order catalogs. You might try to go factory direct, or at least have the manufacturer tell you the name of a dealer. GOOD LUCK.
