cowlitz reports? - 11/26/99 09:58 PM

Looking for a report on winter metalheads for yesterday or today. Going down to the litz on saturday and would like to know how much cutthroat gear to take along. Hoping for someone to say "leave it all home, the steelies are thick in the river" Is this wishful thinking?????

The Cowlitz is out. At 6pm it was running at
16,300 cfs. You might want to keep an eye on the river level website http://wa.water.usgs.gov/rt-cgi/gen_tbl_pg.
I fished below the Barrier dam yesterday morning. It was running between 12 and 13
thousand cfs. It was fishable at that level.
I drove past it on I5 today and it looked
muddy.

I have read some creel reports over the last few days and they are getting a little worried about the winter runs not showing up. they say that thar have only been 1 or 2 into the hatchery and normally would be several. so to answer yer question It really sounds SLOW. not to mention the exra water in the river.
