Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/03/99 01:02 PM

The waters been too high for boats. Way too much water except for the guys fishing for chums in carnation and the mouth of the raging. Plunkers at fall City on wedsday no fish on thursday 1 summer. not too good.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/03/99 08:13 PM

Fished at Fall City today. There were a dozen plunkers and drifters around the bridge. Only saw a small trout and one whitefish taken. Very little activity on Tokul Creek. By noon on opening day, one dark summer fish had been C&R. Stopped by there twice today and saw no fish on the bank and very few fishermen. One of the Fall City old-timers left his fishing vest on the bank at Plumb's Landing last Saturday. It had all of his terminal tackle in it, so if anyone knows of a vest being found at that boat ramp recently, put a post on this board. Good fishun'

Stoped by above plumbs landing today watched and talked to a few guys. Saw three fish caught in a matter of 20 min. River looked ok. Going to try my new sled in the morning. Fish were very fresh and bright. Good luck all.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/04/99 12:47 PM

I am new to fishing this area, although I have lived in seattle for 12 years in the past I always went back home to fish (the coast). I am also a bank dog, and am trying to learn the Snoqualmie a little. I was wondering if someone could tell where plumbs landing is (and some other places one can bank fish this river other than the tokul creek spot). any help would be appreciated and I am willing to trade information. I was planning on hitting the river on Sunday.

Thanks

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/04/99 04:38 PM

Plumbs Landing is the boat launch just below tokul creek. There is some bank access just above the launch itself that is fairly productive. Also, from this parking lot you can walk into the cable hole, which is very productive once the brats come in in force. Remember though that all the rivers seem to be a little late for winters so give it a couple weeks. Last year I was catching good numbers of winters by the 20th of November and this year it seems to just be starting now. If you want any further help email me.

Good luck, Canyon Man.

Anybody have any luck on the Sno this weekend? Had to work all weekend and couldn't get out.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/05/99 10:49 PM

At about noon Sunday: Plum Landing parking lot was full. Lots of boats on river. River a little high but in good fishing shape. Heard rumors of fish but didn't see any at Plums, Cable Hole, Tokul, mouth of Tokul or at mouth of Tolt. River dirty at mouth of Tolt.

Bunch of kayakers running around the river at mouth of Tokul but people didn't have fish before they came to play.

In summary: lots of people, lots of boats, fishing looked slow.

Hope this helps.

Plunked and drifted all day Sunday in Carnation without a bite. Did not see anybody else catch anything either. Marc

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/05/99 11:29 PM

Got a late start this morning, arrived at Tokul creek around 10am. Saw one late summer run on the bank. Heard that a few more were taken down at Plumbs landing earlier(I am not sure if these were winter fish or not) Did not see any other fish landed.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/06/99 12:54 PM

Three of us floated from Fall City down to the next take out (Richters?) and didn't touch a thing. No one we talked to did any better. Pulled plugs and bait divers, and threw corkies and bait. Water seemed pretty good considering. Fish MUST be late...

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/06/99 10:27 PM

Fished the Skykomish on Saturday (in Sultan up streem of the (is it Mann Rd?) bridge) I was tossing a purple bunny leech with an eight weight but had no luck. I only saw two chums role in about six hours. They were all pretty bright though. I was also wondering if anyone knew how to get to the mouth of the Wallace by foot. I hear the Wallace Flats can be quite productive. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/07/99 12:09 AM

One way to walk in to the mouth of the Wallace is to drive to Startup and turn right on the road by the store and cross the river. Follow that road for several miles, and when you get to the point where the road makes a sharp right turn and there is a road to the left over the railroad tracks pull off and park by the tracks. Then walk down the tracks towards Sultan and you will eventually come to the mouth of the Wallace. The last time I was in there last year I couldn't wade to the "island" due to high water but sometimes you can.

Another way is to drive into the housing development around the Wallace mouth. It's a couple roads up from the road over the Skykomish at Sultan. Then you can hopefully walk in to the hole. The problem is that here you're on the wrong side of the river and there are lots of no trespassing signs. Homeowners don't seem to steelhead friendly here.

Or, you can park at the area on the far side of the bridge over the Skykomish in Sultan and walk back across the bridge to the highway side. Then go down the bank to the river and walk up river along the gravel bar. You can walk all the way up to the houses along the river at the mouth and get some fishing that way. Not sure how far you can go without running in to posted property this year.

I haven't tried this one, but looking up river from the bridge over the Skykomish at Sultan it looks like there is now a decent sized gravel bar on the South side of the river. It looks like it you parked in the DNR area and hiked across that field you could come out by the bar and it might be good fishing.

One good thing is all these methods will get you a good workout and fresh air, and if you decide to keep a fish take a stringer to help carry it out.

I still have yet to see a winter steelhead on either the Skykomish or the Snoqualmie. I'm going to look and see if the tribes have nets down in the Snohomish when I get time. If they do that might mean there are fish in the river.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/07/99 01:35 AM

Nope, Mack told me about losing the vest last week. He posted a notice at the ramp. I thought I'd try to help him out by mentioning it in my post. You hate to hear of anyone driving off and leaving a vest or tackle box behind; these stories usually don't have a happy ending. Thanks for posting Mack's email address. Maybe someone will contact him.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/10/99 09:12 PM

Does anyone know where in Fall City or Carnation a person can get sandshrimp? There used to be a couple of places out there that sold them. My usual place is out. thanks for the help.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/11/99 05:41 PM

There is an Exxon/Mini-Mart in downtown Fall City. They usually have sandshrimp, I know the gas station in Preston also has sandshrimp. RonBob, any other places?

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/11/99 07:42 PM

Snoqualmie at Fall City blown out of shape as of noon Saturday. Some fishing at Tokul but only heard of one fish caught, and didn't see it. Saw two dark fish in the hatchery creek, and no bright ones.

Guess the fish must still be late?

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/12/99 01:18 AM

Thanks Kev, that might come in handy if the river drops and some fish show up.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/20/99 12:25 AM

How is the river looking? Might try and fish this week looked pretty high on Sat. afternoon.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/20/99 11:44 PM

As of 8:45pm on 12/20, it's running at 4770 cfs, I personally think it's perfect running at 3000-3200 cfs. I know alot of guys will fish at it's current level and flow. If you do, and depending on which drift you fish, be sure fish the slow water and the seams close to the bank. I would use something with bright colors and something stinky!
Wish I could be out there....

Anyone have any luck over Christmas? Have the fish showed up yet? Thanks. Marc

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/26/99 09:27 PM

I did a drive by through Fall City and then up to the Big Eddy and Tokul Creek. At 1pm, there must have been a dozen boats on the river all the way from Plumbs to Richter's
Take Out. Everyone I talked to showed a big "Zero" when asked about any fish. I checked the confluence running into the hatchery and saw only 4 fish. Of the 4, 3 were summer fish, the other was probably a 12lb winter hatchery hen.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/27/99 11:44 AM

I went out one Friday to the Snohomish and saw a couple with fish on but no body landed anything! Sunday I was down in Snohomish in the morning till noon, nothing was caught so we went to the Snoqualmie and I landed a nice 6 lbs buck winter just above the fall city bridge, just down from the plunkers! It should start to pick up this week if the rivers stay in shape.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/27/99 04:38 PM

Lost a real nice fish below tokul today then shot over to the Green and got a nice 6lbs hen. Didn't see any other fish but there was alot of guys.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/27/99 08:10 PM

Hey fishhawk, I've never been over to the Green river before. I'm planning on stopping by this week. Where is the best areas to fish? Any info would help.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 12/27/99 09:41 PM

They closed the most popular area around the trap at Palmer, so it's hike around and look for the fish. You might want to try the Flaming geyser area upstream from Auburn. There's not alot of fish around right now but hopefully they are coming.

Re: Snoqualmie River - 01/01/00 02:06 PM

Re: Snoqualmie River - 01/02/00 01:21 AM

Fished the mouth of the tokul creek 1/1/2000
and saw 3 landed, water level was low and clear. Not too bad of a day.
