Scents/oil for Aerofly's - 01/04/00 09:39 AM

Just got introduced to using Aerofly's and was wondering? Would using a Shrimp Oil or a scent on them make them even more effective? If so , what are some recommendations to use. Used them with Sand Shrimp tails this past week and hooked some fish on the Elochomen, but always looking for a better way. Thanks in advance for your ideas.

I like to use shrimp flavored Smelly Jelly. I definitely get more hookups using scents. I especially like the clear glow formula that adds a little extra visibility in low light and darker water.

Make sure to avoid getting much on the maribou tail though, it reduces the action.

Hey your on the right track! Somtime if you want a smaller profile bait take the sandshrimp and blend them in a coffee grinder or blender. This way you can make your own fresh scents...Also try varing ingredients as you never know what combos may entice better than others. Eggs work good also. Also somtimes if I need a really small not so boyant lure (for low clear)i'll cut off most of the foam and just leave a cone...if you cut it off center you can even achieve a small amount of eratic movement from it. Hope this helps.
Hey I also see your from P.O. so am I, lived there all my life, we should hook up some evening and discuss this over a white russian or somthing!

Thanks for the info, may be back to the Elochomen this weekend to try some new tips. Never thought of the Sand Shrimp in the blender to make a scent. Guess I wont be throwing away those extras anymore.

Anytime on the White Russian, as long as you don't mind if I take notes during the fishing talk!

ONE WORD OF ADVICE-

"To avoid getting the door, a $10 K-Mart blender will do the chore...."

Hehehe... If you take my hint...

Good advice Tom! Also try St Vinnies or Salvation army...
