Who to use for Kings near Seattle? - 07/21/00 11:52 AM

Hello all,
I just stumbled on to this site while searching for information on salmon fishing near Seattle.

My wife and I will be in the area for a few days toward the end of August. We would like to go King salmon fishing. Will this be a good time of the year to go? Can anyone recommend a good charter operation?

Thanks for any help!

Your timing should be good for Kings in the sound around Seattle although the most reliable fishery will probably south out of Tacoma. It's a 45 min drive from Seattle, 30 when you're cruising down I5 at 4:00 a.m. to meet your guide. My friend who fishes out of Tacoma about three days a week this time of year says John Keizer of Puget Sound Salmon Charters is the guide to go with. Check him out at http://www.eskimo.com/~bpentium/pssc/index.htm

You'll most likely be trolling around an area close to Tacoma and the harbor down there. It's not exactly a wilderness experience but the action can be a blast.

Enjoy,
Bruce

If you want to go with the best, check out "A Spot Tail Salmon Guide", capt. Keith Robbins. He has the best service by a long shot! As far as the kings go, you might be a little late, but you should have a good mixed bag of salmonids

Another vote for Keith Robbins, his boat is fast, his equipment is first class, his knowledge of when to fish where and at what stage of the tide, is wonderful. Book asap, he is very popular.
