Cowlitz Shuttle

Cowlitz Shuttle - 10/04/00 01:26 PM

Mentioned to my retired Dad who lives in Mossyrock that it seems plenty of people are looking for Shuttles on the Cowlitz. He showed an interest in providing Shuttles for a small fee to augment his fixed income. Can the board give me some feedback on whether there is enough demand for such a service and what people would pay for a shuttle?

Last time I was up to the cowliz I did see a sign for a shuttle service at the take out under I5. It is new. I have always hoped someone would start a shuttle service there. Maybe your dad should take a drive to the take outs and have a look. I think it would be a good way to make some extra cash. I would be willing to pay $10-15 for the service. Good luck!

I normally fish the Sky/Snoq, but if I knew there was a shuttle service on the Cowlitz so myself and my fishing partner wouldn't have to take 2 rigs, I would definitely use it. Keep us posted or send us e-mail if your Dad decides to set up a shuttle service. I'd pay $10-$15.

Sounds Good! Keep us posted!

I hate to think of how much time I have sat at the mission waiting for a ride.

You might want to talk to the man who does it out of Forks for some tips. I've forgotten his name, (Jim maybe)but here is his number 360 374 5195.

Ted Miller is the guy who runs the shuttle service out in Forks that Fishguts is referring too. Top notch guy, never had a problem with his service.

Hell yes!!!!!

I'd shell out $10.00. If it takes off and becomes popular, consider the backlog of guys waiting for their shuttle in the morning. I can just see your ol' man trying to deal with 20 rigs (a real possibilty on the cowlitz) at "0-dark-thirty" all by himself. There would be 30 guys hot to hit the water right away but end up frustrated because they have to wait in line for dad to get back to shuttle the next rig. All of a sudden, your waiting instead of fishing.

I don't mean to come across like a stick in the mud but at certain times of the year that scenario could be a reality and it wouldn't be good.

Make sure you and he understand this and maybe hire extras guys to handle the numbers when necessary, or at least have guys on call to help out.

Great of you to offer the service though....I hope you are successful.

Sorry guys and gals, Dad chickened out. The guy who dragged my childhood ass all over this state fishing would'nt belly up when offered a great oppurtunity. I can't even get him in a boat anymore. Somebody shoot me when I get like this....PROMISE?
